Trees and infrared vision

I think if you look at the pics, it's pretty obviously what the problem is

 

When you're in a forest, you just see black with IR Vision on

 

Is this a bug or are trees IRL also Boxes when IR Vision on?

In 1.2.16 the trees simply disappear when selecting IR view. They must've changed something is my guess.

 

Also, normally, trees will obscure IR to a certain extend as their leaves block IR.
