ok this should not be hard to naswer:book:

I have the hotas warthog and track it. i don't have the rudder and don't plan to use it.

It is really necessary to enjoy dcs? if i use the rudder on the stick or throttle?

Depends on what you fly.

For helos I think pedals are essential, but that is just an opinion.

I used a twist stick for years but having made the jump to rudder pedals I wouldn't go back.

It probably depends on what you fly but for helos and WWI aircraft ( Rise of Flight ) it is vastly superior.

To echo also the above, I would add as well really depends on how devoted and how long you might be enjoying this hobby. Not sure how long you have been flight simming, looks like you are fairly new to the forums here.

It's really all about immersion. Obviously you already have some good equipment with the Warthog and Track IR, those two devices alone certainly add greatly to the immersion. Rudder Pedals do as well, and really completes the compliment of equipment.

As they mentioned too depends on what you fly how much you might use them, personally I am flying the KA-50 a lot, and they are invaluable for me in that sim. The WWII planes benefit as mentioned, although I think DCS has added an auto rudder function to them that would help if no rudder pedals.

I would say if you know you are going to be a long term flight simmer, they are a worthwhile investment. If you are not sure how long term, you certainly can get by without them for a while.

Try control the rudder with this HAT on throttle (right side, up).

With some training your thumb finger became more responsive that your foots. :)

But, as said above a rudder pedal is part of "vir'pilot" fantasy. ;)

Sure just like the hat on the joystick can easily be used to look around as well, and it is typically assigned by default lol.

genus props to everyone.

thank you Sokol, you really reminded me of this old trick!

i used to have rudder pedals tho.

My account is new but I enjoy sims since i was 7 years old now i'm 31. that being said, the lack of visor is getting me frustrated. a monitor just doesn't do the trick for me.

You kind of get used to the track IR after a while but agree, it feels sometimes like you are looking through a small window in a tank using a monitor. Trying out an oculus DK2 even though I couldn't see very far because of the terrible resolution, it still felt like I was inside the aircraft.

Anyway, I have to agree with the others, pedals aren't necessary, but if you are flying helicopters they make a big difference (assuming you get some nice pedals, I would stay away from saitek and CH pedals).
