Woogey Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Hello, BelSimTek Staff, I was hoping you guys could add a few more configuration options to the Huey. Namely, could we have the option for Front AND Rear Hardpoints. The Front Hard points were rarely ever used except by Australia. I would like to mount only the Aft Hardpoints. With that said, you should be able to mount Miniguns and rockets to the same hardpoint, at the same time. Option 2: Can you make the Flare dispensers independent options? As if you load flares, they appear, if your flare count is at zero, then the launchers will not be mounted. Option 3: Can you make the Cable cutters have there own check box? Essentially If you could implement a separate Check Box for: A) Cable Cutters B) IR Suppressors C) Front Hard Point D) Aft Hard Point It would be greatly appreciated. It would give us better options to configure the Huey more closely to what it normally was during the peak of operations with the U.S. Military and Our close allies. Sincerely, Preston "Woogey" Martin

Vectury Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 (edited) And flare dispensers! Euh, correct me if I'm wrong, but last time I checked the Huey still had flare dispensers on the tail section. Or are you refering to Woogey's independent flare dispensers idea? EDIT: Chaff would be a nice addition. Some UH-1's were equipped with both flares and chaff countermeasures dispensers. The US Navy had Huey's with the RR 129 A/AL tactical Chaff cartridge. zaelu Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 I must confess that all Hueys I've seen (not many and all in pictures and movies) had no flare dispensers on them. GunfighterSIX Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 (edited) The UH-1h Huey never had flare launchers, that was a mistake by Belsimtek. The flare control panel in the cockpit is from another cockpit. An APR 39 radar detector should be put in where the radar altimeter is, and the radar altimeter should be removed. The UH-1V had the radar altimeter. Belsimtek was given bad advice. Edited November 13, 2015 by GunfighterSIX HHC, 229th AHB, 1st Cav Div http://1stcavdiv.conceptbb.com/

The gunship version of the UH-1H is also unique to Australia as far as I know. The cockpit and collective head are different to an Australian UH-1H though, so who knows what's being modelled? If it's only supposed to be a US UH-1H then BST should probably ditch the gunship version, but that'd be far less fun. :) - Horsey Edited November 14, 2015 by WarHorsey added pic
GunfighterSIX Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 I knew the Australians Uh-1h had the radar altimeter, I have gone through their manuals a few times. But seeing the Australians had such few helicopters, I was not including them as part of my argument. From what I understand Belisimtek was not trying to build and Australian UH-1H. If they were, they should have modeled the rest of the cockpit correctly. For example The Australians had a larger TRQ gauge which I like a lot better. My point was that they took parts from different Huey versions and even different aircraft and plugged them into the Huey in odd and unrealistic ways. The flare launchers would not work mounted on the tale, because of CG would be screwed up, and the flares would not distract gen 3 MANPADS ie(sa18 that we have in game) because the flares fire out the wrong direction. Its simple details they could have asked people with experience about in order to release a better product. HHC, 229th AHB, 1st Cav Div http://1stcavdiv.conceptbb.com/
WarHorsey Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 Agreed, it is a great Torque gauge. ☺ For everyone else, that's the big easy to read gauge to the left of the ASI. The design BST have implemented is certainly interesting. It appears as if they've fitted the UH-1H to suit DCS World rather than reality: * If they had modelled an Australian UH-1H we couldn't have flares (IIRC) or steerable guns. * If they had modelled a US UH-1H we couldn't have a gunship, flares or a RadAlt. Probably many other differences as well. I don't know whether realism is better or worse than having these features available. I guess that's up to each individual. As to the flares being implemented unrealistically... I'm guessing by the time the flares were implemented primary development focus had moved on to other modules. - Horsey
WarHorsey Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 As for the OP, I've never seen a D/H with the minis mounted alongside the rockets. As far as I know this configuration was only for the B/C models. Not saying it wouldn't be nice to have the option available, but it wouldn't be more realistic if that's what you're after. Cheers, - Horsey
