timothyhotrod33 Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 Hi all, this is my first time posting but I wanted to give back. I am appreciative for all the members that so are willing to help the noobs, which I am one. I wanted to contribute something. So here it is, for the directionally challenged a compass rose with reciprocals. Maybe this will help aid in navigation and landing.:)compass with recips.pdf 3

AndyJWest Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 Sorry, but what you've got on that pdf aren't reciprocals. A reciprocal course is one 180° from the one originally given. The reciprocal of 10° is 190°, not 350° for example... http://www.digitalflightinstructor.com/reciprocal-headings/ 1
NeilWillis Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 Yep, you either add 180 if the heading is below 180, or subtract 180 if the original heading is greater than or equal to 180 to arrive at a reciprocal heading. The compass is incorrect.
Cibit Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 Don't do the man down for trying. I appreciated the pdf as I now have easy reference to what a reverse heading for a given course without hurting my brain. No one expects you to use it to discover the lost continent of atlantis:doh: i5 8600k@5.2Ghz, Asus Prime A Z370, 32Gb DDR4 3000, GTX1080 SC, Oculus Rift CV1, Modded TM Warthog Modded X52 Collective, Jetseat, W10 Pro 64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Adding JTAC Guide //My Vid's//229th AHB
GurbY Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 Don't do the man down for trying. I appreciated the pdf as I now have easy reference to what a reverse heading for a given course without hurting my brain. No one expects you to use it to discover the lost continent of atlantis:doh: In that case you won't arrive at your wanted destination. Look at the PDF: if you set a course of, lets say, 50, the reciprocal course on the PDF let you steer to 310. Now look up 310 on that PDF again. Is that 180 degrees the other way around? Don't think so... For this example I would be heading 230 if you don't mind... In other words: this PDF, how nicely made it is, does NOT show you the reverse heading for a given course.
