Vekkinho Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 Hello, Did anyone find out which Catalyst version is best option for FPS in LO-FC? I remember having more FPS with 'old' 5.XX Cats than with 6.XX series...Funny but I guess it's not 'newer the better' thing here. I think that best Cat is the one that was one of the latest during the release of FC. Whadda U think?! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Mustang Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 I've been running Catalyst 6.6 for the past few hours, 1.12a runs like a dream, seems this version has faster anisotropic filtering too :) in the release notes : "Far Cry performance improves 4-5%. Larger gains of up to 18.3% can be seen when using anisotropic filtering." now that has to affect the FPS in LockOn for sure, i use 8x AF and i believe its smoother.
Pilotasso Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 I have a 9800 pro and Im sticking with cat 5.12 for quite a while. Im not sure if theres any better cat for my card? .
Mustang Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 Hey, i've "only" got an X800, i reckon 6.6 will be fine for your 9800 pilotasso, my brother has a 9700pro and he's been running the 6.5's and previous drivers without issues. (BTW like the pic, looks like a kilrathi :))
Pilotasso Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 Rgr, will try OMEGA's. (Used to be a WC space sim maniac) .

Newer drivers does not mean it's better. Pilotasso, For your aging 9800 pro card I suggest sticking with your current driver. 1
Silent Warrior Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 Mustang: It's bloody prince Thrakhath, matey! I think that frame's from the intro for Wing Commander 3. THERE's a game with an atmosphere. I love it too! Could do with a bit of horizontal stretch, but that's splitting hairs. To make my post even remotely on-topic... :) I haven't tested these with LOMAC, but I've taken FS2004 for a spin. I got a few more FPS, whee! When it comes to LOMAC, I'm mainly limited by my CPU anyway.
