Ramstein Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 Anyone else often have issues on steering on the takeoffs? not all of the time, but often my F-86 is al over the runway,, maybe find an adjustment for pedals? maybe a better tutorial just for take-offs only? Often I just make the take off ugly, but still take off, other times just screws up... use 'S' key, but then get rolling and use rudder only? etc... :joystick: ASUS Strix Z790-H, i9-13900, WartHog HOTAS and MFG Crosswind G.Skill 64 GB Ram, 2TB SSD EVGA Nvidia RTX 2080-TI (trying to hang on for a bit longer) 55" Sony OLED TV, Oculus VR
Pajama Pilot Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 I had that issue. The elevator trim was not configured for takeoff. Trim the elevator up until the cockpit yellow light in front of you is on. You don't need to steer during takeoff, just use rudder to keep lined up with runway. jocko417 Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 The nose wheel steering system on the F-86 takes a bit of getting used to... Make sure when you line up on the runway for takeoff that the nose wheel is perfectly centered, or you're in for a nasty surprise when you start rolling, so when lining up, let the airplane roll forward down the runway a bit before gently bringing it to a stop with even braking. Use nose wheel steering to keep the airplane straight during the initial part of the takeoff roll. This is quite sensitive at any speed faster than taxi speed. You'll only need minimal pedal deflection to keep the airplane tracking straight. Above fifty knots release the NWS switch and just use rudder alone. You will find you'll suddenly need a lot more pedal deflection initially, as the rudder is not very effective at low speeds.
golani79 Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 I don´t use NWS on takeoff itself - as soon as I´m on the runway I just roll on a bit to straighten out the noswheel and then come to a halt. After that I let go of the NWS button and I only use rudder as soon as I start my takeoff run. Works just fine for me. >> DCS liveries by golani79 <<

Rolling on the straighten the nosewheel is all you need to do for easy take off's. Fancy trying Star Citizen? Click here!
