Upgrading from i5 2500K. Advice please?

So I've been considering if it's worth upgrading my workhorse 2500K, running at 4.4 GHz, either with an i5 4690K or the newer 6600K. The thing is, according to benchmarks for games it hardly seems worth the money. See for example the comments in

 

So, my question: does DCS, being CPU-intensive, give further reason to upgrade? Or can I expect the same small benefits as generic gaming benchmarks show? Has anyone actually upgraded from a 2500k to a newer i5?

Have you already thaught about an i7 4790K?

 

Well, i think, it's a CPU, who maybe lives as long as the 6600K, but i don't really know much about CPUs

I wasn't planning on spending more to get an i7, it's not really worth it according to most.

I've been wondering if an upgrade is worth it now for some time too..

I ended up upgrading my GFX instead, going from a HD7970 3GB to a Sapphire R9 390 Nitro 8GB, and keeping the i5 2500K @ 4.4Ghz for now.

The R9 gave my FPS a real nice boost, and with FPS capped at 40, DCS is now running very smooth and stable. Oh, and thats with a res of 5910x1080.

 

But anyway, I guess I'm still wondering about that CPU upgrade, hm..

I have an I5 4690K, running standard

Couldnt be happier, with 8GB of ram and a GTX980 DCS flies (pardon the pun) at max settings.

I've just ordered a 4690k and a 980Ti to replace my 2500k / 670 set up. Nothing wrong with the 2500k, it's a great chip, but thought I might as well sell it on now while it's still worth something.
