Anski Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 I intend to buy the X55 what do you think? In fact I look for one with rotary axis (drift) on the handle. I currently own the G940 but force feedback does not suit me at all and there are too son, it's a bit of a mess! :music_whistling: So I thought at X55 ... but in some tests, he speaks of the fragility of the throttle and his little run ... so I do not really know. Thank you.
Jackdaws Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 I have the x-55 and i love it. It might be made of plastic, but Its very solid and heavy and you kinda have to look at it to remind you its not metal or something similar. I've never used a warthog before so im not too sure what thats like? For my level of flight sim gaming i feel quite privileged to own the x-55. Im not too sure what huex27 means by the throttle rotaries flicker? they seem quite normal to me and i love it. but this is just my experience with the x-55. I guess no matter what you buy you will always adapt and get used to it. I couldnt stand the xbox controller until i bought an xbox. My Files..... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
wormeaten Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 X55 has a feeling of a toy compared to Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog. It does go broken, like the throttle sliders get juicy as well as the friction adjustment. Some functions like speed brake, slew control requires external programs to work. Mislocation of buttons and hats on the throttle is confusing and doesn't allow you to react fast and simultaneously. Rotaries on the throttle are cool, but they flicker no matter what USB port or USB Hub you're using. Stick is lousy and not sensitive enough. I have the x-55 and i love it. Problem is if you switch from TMW or G940 to Saitek you will always have feeling it will crush under your fingers how light it feel. I will never change G940 for saitek there is no benefit from it at all. G940 is better HOTAS. If I will switch to other HOTAS only choice in that case is TMW but even than you should think about it twice. Point is TMW is better quality and definitely comparable with G940 but the question is price. Is TMW that much better how much is it cost? If you don't have problem with mony and you can afford it go for it other way will be much better invest your savings in better GPU or Screen. Thet difference will be more noticeable.
Anski Posted December 2, 2015 Author Posted December 2, 2015 OK ! Thank you for your answers ! I suspected a little but you confirm! I would have bought the Hotas Warthog, but he has not the axis rotation! I'll keep my G940 for now, I'm not in a hurry my purchase, no problem. Also, if someone a trick to properly set the Force Feedback G940, let me know!
Gladman Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 you will always have feeling it will crush under your fingers how light it feel. Seriously, thats a more than an little bit of an overstatement. The quality is fine, I've been using them for 2 years and not had an issue. i9 9900K @ 5.1Ghz - ASUS Maximus Hero XI - 32GB 4266 DDR4 RAM - ASUS RTX 2080Ti - 1 TB NVME - NZXT Kraken 62 Watercooling System - Thrustmaster Warthog Hotas (Virpil Base) - MFG Crosswind Pedals - Pimax 5K+ VFA-25 Fist Of The Fleet [sigpic]http://forums.eagle.ru/signaturepics/sigpic99190_2.gif[/sigpic] Virtual Carrier Strike Group 1 | Discord
Madfish Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 My hog has way more quality issues than my x55 and the T.16000. And those are not even rare ones. Like center gimbal play with the stick, play and wobble in the throttle and that "stickyness" until you move it even on lowest friction settings. Not to mention the switches and the thumb hat - hat feels like pudding and many switches are worn out (most people don't even use them). Mine's a #11136 by the way, so not even a super early batch. Aside from quality issues there's the reduced overall usability. Not enough rotaries and buttons especially. The force required to move that thing or press buttons (also affecting accuracy). It's a replica but that doesn't mean it's superior. On the contrary I usually use the T.16000 or x55 set. Didn't touch the hog stick since a year. Yeah modding helps but in terms of overall value / price I wouldn't call the hog a winner unless you want to build a replica pit. Best regards
