Just flying around in the new EDGE/2.0/Nevada and i am noticing a lot of the round models are not A clean Round shape. They look more like a stop sign hexigon type with strait edges. Mountain peeks and edges are still pointy and have strait lines. With this new graphics engine i was kind of supprised to see things like this. I am not a modler so i wouldnt know anything. Is it hard to model round edges?

I think you'd beter provide your system specs and DCS World settings first. Because shapes and mountains are not bad as you told.

I think you'd beter provide your system specs and DCS World settings first. Because shapes and mountains are not bad as you told.

 

I think you should go look again!!

 

4770k, geforce 980, 32 gigs mem.. Max Settings.. Just go look at something thats supposed to be round.. Like a radar dish.

 

All 3 of these are brand new models.

Well, I will admit that it is a unfortunate that the race track could use a few more polys.

It is a compromise. With so much more that takes priority, I would rather have the aircraft in higher detail and weapon fx take more graphical resources than minor details like that. Also keep in mind, most new games use POV tech like umbra which culls objects not in view. This allows devs to cram in massive amounts of detail in a certain frame. Unfortunately for something the scale of DCS, that just isn't feasible. As a result, DCS probably has to do a more brute force run with everything in memory? Correct me if I am wrong btw..
