Hi, I've just begun learning the F-15 and when flying with a few friends online we noticed that an AI SU-27 was able to hard lock all three of us simultaneously. Is this within its capabilities or is it a bug?

Thx

The AI usually does crap like this...it might have locked/unlocked each one of you individually though. There's an age-out time on the RWR after an emitter shuts down, its about a 7 second delay.

The Su-27S isn't capable of tracking multiple targets.

What you more likely saw was that you were close enough together for all your RWRs to see the same signal from the Su-27. I see this all the time when i tell my wingman to engage, I will get a lock tone from him until i move out of his LoS to the bandit.

I am with ShuRugal. The RWR is not so to say an accurate system. It perceives radar waves. Those are relatively wide and can "irradiate" more than a single plane. It means the RWR will be display alarms in each three aircraft painted by the radar at the same time.

I don't think the above answers fully explain what i've been seeing. First, the hard locks have lasted far more than 7 seconds (over a minute in some cases), and secondly, we've been simultaneously hard locked when in excess of 20 nm distance from one another.

One of the guys I've been flying with also tells me that this didn't happen before DCS World 1.5 was released.

Though certainly no expert in DCS BVR engagements, I have flown quite a lot of flights sims in my day and have never seen anything like this before. Any further insights would be appreciated.

In that case, it sounds like the earlier suggestion of the AI rapidly switching locks. Do you have any tracks or ACMI files? In Tacview you can see what the selected aircraft has locked as target.

It's either a bug or a innapropriate way for the AI to engage by cycling hard locks really fast on each aircraft of the opposite side (members of your flight). That's how I would explain this, since the RWR/SPO will emit a lock tone and a solid light for few seconds even though the bandit hard locked you for half a second. Those SU27 aren't capable of tracking multiple contacts at the same time. Currently, only the F15C is capable of such acquisition using TWS, but this tracking mode won't emit any tone until you launch or your missile goes pitbull.
