hhatch Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 I've been trying to create a new waypoint on the cdu for targeting purposes, but am having a problem. My general procedure is to set wp mode selector to mission and cdu page select to wp, press lsk 2 and then I create a new waypoint. I then set the page selector back to other. Then I enter elevation and lat. long. with no spaces. Then I cycle the steerpoint to my new waypoint in the HUD. I slave the tgp to the steerpoint (china hat aft long). However, when I do that the tgp is nowhere near the target. I went into the mission editor and created a waypoint on the target and everything worked fine, so I'm doing something wrong. After several hours I still can't figure it out.
Gliptal Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 What elevation are you giving the waypoint?
hhatch Posted December 13, 2015 Author Posted December 13, 2015 What elevation are you giving the waypoint? I have tried 0 as well as the elevation shown on the map. The map I am using is in mission editor as this is a mission I created.
Yurgon Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Can you record a short track? Just a quick air-start, create waypoint, slave TGP, and then when you upload it, describe where it was supposed to be (instead of where it actually is).

Try China hat forward [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
hhatch Posted December 14, 2015 Author Posted December 14, 2015 Well it appears I found the problem and it is me. The targets were where you would expect, I just could not find them. I would not have posted except that I went through a period of hours without finding anything and I incorrectly concluded that I was making some input error on the cdu. I'm trying everything I can think of to get better. If I don't get better then I may just have to turn labels on. I don't want to because once I turn them on I think it will be hard to turn them off. However, it may come down to using labels or find something else to do. I am going to order Track IR5 after Christmas if I have any money left as I could use it for my civilian flight sims as well. Thank you all for the help.
GurbY Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 And again, as stated by Blooze, china hat aft long has another function...
