Noooo help!

Omg so I got some new 16 gb get skill rip kaw ram 2x8gb 1333mhz and hocked them up and.....nothing pcwont even POST so I put back my old ram and same thing can't even get into thebios the fans all run and I get a green light on my board. I tried every combination ofram removed everything cleared the cmos switched psu removed gfx card nothing...I fear my c pu or mobo fried butim bothering beeps or anything it justfires up and stays on but the screen is blank. I've already started looking for new customers and mobo just in case and saw the AMD 8350 with the msi 970 mobo I'd pot a link but this stupid black berry....it's so hard to surf the Web and check compatibility on this thing

I hope you can "hard" reset your bios. If the the motherboard is in your sig:

ASUS P8H67-M Pro reset bios

I'm now looking at the I5 4690k with msi gaming z97....500$ iv heard allot of good things about this cpu and it's a bit faster then my old one and I can over clock it can anyone forsee anyproblems with this cpu and mobo with great skill rip jaw 16g 1333mhz and my 550 watpower suply?

Since you are going to be inside the machine again, just a gentle reminder to be extra mindful of static electricity this time of year. :)

 

I actually try to avoid being inside my boxes in the winter time, largely for that reason.

Ah yes good advice. I've fried one on my first pc builds that way. Btw I went ahead And order the i5 4690k and msi z97 gaming 5 motherboard.....after all this up grading with the gtx 970 and 16 gb ram I'd like to think I will soon own a solid gaming pc. Some forums said that the I 5 might not work without a bios update but all the msi Site say good to go and if need be can be upgraded later? Aslong as I can get to the bios this time I know ican update it......pray for me humble pc gamers :megalol: should be here Monday....If I miss the m2000 release I may :cry:

Are u suggesting I uselatex gloves while building thepc? I don't normally I justwash my hands and make sure theresas little finger grease as possible but glovs might be sure really good idea especially when installing the cpu. I will also remember this time to check thesocket pins for bends before installing....had a bad cpu like that once

I have an anti static wrist strap I picked up some time ago, they are very cheap. Put in on my wrist and connect to something metal to ground it. I have built many systems over the years along with upgrading them and never had an issue. But I do wear that strap anytime I put my hands in there to change something out.

I have never used gloves but I do use a grounded wrist strap and grounded anti-static mat when doing work. I also ground the case as well, and I don't mean 'plugging in the PSU'.

Put the update in a usb key (ms-dos startup).

I am not so sure if you did the right thing with exchanging the rig that soon.

 

There are many means to revive an Asus motherboard but it seems to late now.

 

FYI:

Take out the CPU, take out battery, everything else too, NAKED board--> BOOT IT a few times = usually fixed

 

If they hang that bad you gotta boot w/o CPU and w/o battery and best with a coin where the battery was.

 

 

Put that rig together, get watercooling and smoke that new i5 with your 2600k...just read my sig or chichlidfan's. No reason to exchange a 2600k anytime soon I guess for DCS where MHz count a lot

Sooo... After 3 days with the ASUS mother board it turns out my I-7 CPU was toast, had it tested on another board while waiting for my new parts. The MSI Z97 GAMING 5 and I-5 4690K arrived in the mail today and I put everything together without a hitch....mostly the EVO 212 CPU cooler stuck out the side of the case so I had to use the stock fan with the I-5. Windows 10 even fired up!!! I was told by micro$oft that it would not with the new hardware. Granted it is kinda unstable with the drivers outa whack so I will go ahead and reformat my hdd just so I can have a clean start, atleaste now I can deactivate my DCS moduals without using and activation and save the rest of my saved games. Thanks everyone for the ideas with the MOBO tho. I very happy with my new parts and the Audio on this MSI board is truly something else
