Crunchy Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 I'm having a problem with the TGP moving of it's target sometimes and I have no idea why it does it. I normally target something with the TGP as SOI and then use TMS fwd long to make the target SPI. I tap TMS fwd to change it to point instead of Area over the target. A this point I make the Maverick on the other MFCD SOI and I ChinaHat long forwards to bring it over to the TGP target. This is when I seem to have a problem at times though. Sometimes as ChinaHat fwd long, the TGP will move of its target even though it's not SOI? Can some explain why it does this?
Blooze Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 I have found that if I have a target locked with the TGP and try to slave the Mav to it too soon the TGP loses the lock. Try waiting until you are less than 10 nms from the target before slaving the Mav and you may get better results. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Aginor Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 I'm not sure if I understood correctly: Did the TGP move away or did the SPI move away? the SPI moving is pretty common when not using the laser during creating your SPI. the TGP moving could be due to reaching gimbal limits or moving too quickly (pulling Gs). Perhaps if you would include a track during which it happenend we could take a look. DCSW weapons cheat sheet speed cheat sheet

TGP moved of it's target and I couldn't lock with the Mavs after that. @Blooze why does the TGP move of it's target though, is it meant to do this if you are not close enough when using a Maverick? Thanks!
fltsimbuff Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 Don't change to the Maverick BEFORE you slave it to the TGP. Once you have the SPI set, press forward-long to slave the Maverick and THEN switch SOI to the Maverick to lock it.
Zee Pet Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 As a side note, slightly related: If you DMS left (IIRC)- the function to put the TAD in a display mode where you see more of whats in front, rather than equally around you- this affects TGP display. It forces the tgp display to take the same dimensions of the adjusted TAD. The symbology remains, however it is off center from the actual tgp. This makes zoom and setting SPI a very rough approximation since it is zooming on a different point rather than the visible center(symbology center). Not sure if this is a bug since I never noticed it before. I'm assuming it is since it blocks 1/4 of the display.... ||i5-9600k||MSI GTX1070Ti Duke||16GB DDR4 G.SKILL Ripjaws V||Gigabyte Aorus B360||X56||

This is what I normally do, but the Mav was warming up while I had the TGP targeting a tank. Once the Mav was up and running that's when I changed the Mav to SOI and tried to use ChinaHat to bring it to the TGPs target.

Even if it's not your SOI. So my guess would be that you've not correctly set your SPI on the target, and thus the sensors are reverting to the "previous" SPI. I've had things end up pointing in the wrong direction if I change over to the Mav before pressing forward-long on the china hat. Not sure why, but for me it works consistently if I leave the TGP selected first.

Next time you have the problem Crunchy please check lower left corner of your HUD. Your current SPI is indicated there. cheers Hans 132nd Virtual Wing homepage & 132nd Virtual Wing YouTube channel My DCS-BIOS sketches & Cockpit Album
Paco Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 I think this is a bug. I've noticed it as well. Does not occur in 1.5 or previous. The TGP is useless if you had the TAD off center. Been meaning to write this up with a track. Paco
