i know i can save the track and play it back which is cool but i'd like to try making a 2 plane airshow, so i'd like to record my flight track then play it back but still be able to fly along with it. is that possible at all?

thx

No...unfortunately not. It's a feature I truly wish they would incorporate, but sadly I don't think it will ever be something they'll consider.

One can always hope!

thanks. i used to fly falconBMS and i wrote a tool that allowed you to fly a circuit automatically from a set of waypoints or stearpoints, including stuff like aileron rolls, etc. then i ran that on my B computer in multiplayer mode and on my A computer i could fly with it. i got it working quite well be had to move onto paying jobs and forgot about it.

maybe i'll resurrect it for DCS as i don't bother with falcon anymore

i wonder how many people would be interested in that if i made it work?

I certainly would be interested, though I'd have to set up a server to run it.

A tool that I REALLY liked was the FS Recorder module that was developed for FSX. You could record multiple tracks and play back as many as you wanted to build formations - and it even rendered out butter-smooth frame-based video at any resolution you wanted. Only drawback was that it couldn't export the sound for videos. But still... it was one of the best third-party modules Ive ever used. I wish he had continued developing it for P3D compatibility.

Now if you could write a module like that - well, you'd be considered a GOD in the DCS community! LOL!

i don't think DCS provides a programmer API like FSX and falconBMS does which is unfortunate. the other thing i've always dreamed of building is a full motion simulator, but that needs to get real time roll/pitch/yaw etc from the game and again, i don't think DMS supports that

Just in case you didn't know about this potential work-around: Since 1.5 OpenBeta, AI flights can be assigned aerobatic maneuvers in the advanced waypoint actions IIRC. It's not what you describe, but maybe it would work for you.

I haven't tried it yet and I fear that the AI will be very hard to follow because of the different flight models (simplified AI flight model vs. Advanced/Professional/External Flight Model for the player aircraft, depending on the module), but maybe it's worth a shot.

FS Recorder like

As soon as this feature will be available, I will buy more plane from DCS.. I like to do aerobatic formation flight with FSX but flight model of DCS are a long way better !!! Please DCS, add this feature to your Sim !!!

Ahh like FS Recorder? Now that would be a new approach for airshows and practicing formation flying. Since what we can do with AI can be limited in certain situations...

2 plane airshow

Have you tried making a mission with 2 planes in it as if it were multiplayer, flying the first plane and then in replay taking control of the other one? :joystick:
