Zeus67 Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 It seems that some of you are having problems with TDC movement. The radar screen has two modes: PPI and B-Scope PPI uses polar representation, so the TDC also uses a polar movement. If you move it sideways you will see that it will start curving, because it follows a radius. To place it above a contact icon, you usually have to move it sideways and slightly up to counteract the curving. movement. I wish that it could use x/y movement, but since the contacts are using polar movement, then the TDC must use polar movement as well. If you feel that is too problematic, you can change to B-Scope mode. B-Scope mode is the mode used by US fighters like the F-15/F-16. There is no change in functionality, just in representation. And in B-Scope the TDC moves in x/y coordinates and is easier to control. It is just a matter of preferences whether to use PPI or B-Scope, but the options are there. The radar screen mode is below the radar power knob. Check the manual for its exact location. So far, the Universe is winning." "The three most dangerous things in the world are a programmer with a soldering iron, a hardware type with a program patch and a user with an idea."
TomOnSteam Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Thanks! That's interesting that there are two movement modes. Is there a way to change the sensitivity or slew speed? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cockpit Spectator Mode
golani79 Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 (edited) Is there a way to change the sensitivity or slew speed? I think there isn´t yet - but in another topic about TDC slew I think, Zeus said, that they would evaluate the possibility for binding the slew function to axis. He was also talking about testing the speed of the movement and an eventual option to set the speed. Edited December 27, 2015 by golani79 >> DCS liveries by golani79 <<
Para_Bellum Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Thanks for explanation, Zeus. Really appreciate it how you provide information here again and again!
IvanK Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Cant get the TDC to move down due to the dreaded "K" keybinding issue :)
grunf Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Thanks Zeus! I don't have a problem with the display modes, both seem natural to me. The only problem is TDC movement sensitivity, and the best way to "fix" it is to make an axis for it.
Guest deeplodokus Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Thanks Zeus! I don't have a problem with the display modes, both seem natural to me. The only problem is TDC movement sensitivity, and the best way to "fix" it is to make an axis for it. could have axis and also add a slow move up/down/left/right mode! i'd like to keep my current hotas hat for TDC, but i could use for example the pinkie to slow down the TDC movement
Pikey Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 You can also optimise the range scale setting to place the target further "up" the HDD so you slew the TDC across the top and get the feeling of moving and fine control more. Slewing across the bottom in polar is a bit weird. ___________________________________________________________________________ SIMPLE SCENERY SAVING * SIMPLE GROUP SAVING * SIMPLE STATIC SAVING *
