169th_Bat Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 This was covered in another thread, but thought it would be useful under this heading. Ok, in a nutshell a picture paints a 1000 words: F15 RWS: http://img46.imageshack.us/img46/3264/1f15rwsly4.jpg F15 TWS: http://img46.imageshack.us/img46/5919/2f15twsmu9.jpg Russian Radar: http://img95.imageshack.us/img95/4558/3russianradarcz8.jpg Russian HUD: http://img46.imageshack.us/img46/5619/4russianhudse9.jpg Russian HUD / Radar: http://img46.imageshack.us/img46/9240/5russianhudradarbz7.jpg (Quote from 169th_Ice): Also be aware of this happening: I`m in rusky bird I see an ac sneakin and lock it. In the vicinity is a friendly unknown to you. I lose lock on the bad guy and radar will switch to EOS. Guess what.. it picks up the friendly on EOS and it looks like a bandit on the HUD and on the radar. Most common mistake is radar slipping back to EOS without the pilot realising. Keep checking the HUD for the "N" to show radar is still illuminating. 1 "Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few". - Sir Winston Churchill 1940.

Sleek Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 good post..one thing i will point out tho is as soon as u go online (HL)all u see is the strobing on ur hud due to a lot of pilots using there ECM..hard work then for new pilots to IFF Be Good..Be Strong..:drink: ;)
Guest IguanaKing Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 Wow, Bat...being a Hog driver, I had no idea that LOMAC implemented NCTR. I vote that this thread be made a "Sticky" since a lot of noobs lately have been asking about how to avoid fratricide. Great post!
Cobra360 Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 Wow, Bat...being a Hog driver, I had no idea that LOMAC implemented NCTR. I vote that this thread be made a "Sticky" since a lot of noobs lately have been asking about how to avoid fratricide. Great post! That was all IFF, IG. No NCTR in those pics, NCTR can only be used on the F-15 when you go to STT. The next logical step after IFF has been made.
Guest IguanaKing Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 But...but...I have always read that IFF didn't exist in LOMAC for 'Murican birds. I know that the mode A code for the LOMAC eagle is f'd up, but did not know about its B, and D ability. Heh...this game has SO much depth to it that I wasn't even aware of. :D
S77th-GOYA Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 NCTR can only be used on the F-15 when you go to STT. STT is not necessary for NCTR. It works in TWS too. IG, the problem isn't that the 15 can't tell the difference from friend and foe, the problem is that once a target is locked, IFF info goes away. The only way to tell a friend from a foe is to see their unlocked return on radar.
