Warthog Slider as Trim Control?

Hey there.

 

I noticed that I cannot assign the throttle INCR/DECR controls/axis on too many options. I want to be abler to use the slider as pitch trim control. Since I am a real pilot I love having easy access to a trim feature. Any way to code it so that it can see it as trim?

You can add this axis as "trim" for some planes, but not for all.

 

E.g. for Bf 109, P-51* you can, but not for Fw 190 - probable because in RL plane the trim is a electric (Mon)-Off-(Mon) switch.

 

* Dont result practical, the trim move too fast with conventional potentiometer, need multi-turn type.

 

Anyway look under plane controls tab "Axis command" to assign and test.

With this slider's friction and short throw, I consider it to be useless for trimming. I suggest trying it out first on one of the planes where the assignment is possible, to get a feel how it works for You.

In Dcs only p-51 and bf-109 have assignable trim axis and in both planes it's somewhat broken. Trimming is impractical with such small knob anyway.

Hit up ebay for a used CH Throttle Quad to supplement your Warthog. That's the only real complaint I have about the 'hog... a dearth of sliders. Mounting a CH quadrant next to it gives sliders for trim, prop pitch, mixture, rads, and gun sight range.

I did that very thing, had it mounted right beside my WH throttle for the longest time. Ended up hardly ever using it so I finally took it down and set it in a box. But if I ever need it can certainly quickly hook it up.

 

Maybe when DCS WWII gets further along and I get more into it, I might find a need for it once again.
