Nealius Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 I enjoy taking game shots and videos but every track I save is utterly broken. Looking at the screenshots thread and other video threads there is obviously quite a large number of people who aren't having any track replay issues, yet every time I replay a track my jet taxis off into the grass and it's starting to piss me off. Has anyone figured out how to avoid breaking tracks?
Buzzles Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 General rule of thumb: Keep them short. Don't use time warp. Stay in F1 view. Believe they only exist for the version of DCS they were made on. Fancy trying Star Citizen? Click here!
Hadwell Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 (edited) Tracks do work, they are unreliable, for example zZETxanjciE was made from a .ntrk, but you can see it stops tracking my head movements after a while... but other times, it will just drive me into the ground or off the taxiway etc... and length of track really doesn't make a difference as to if it's going to fail or not... i've had 40 minute long tracks fail just as often as 2 hour long ones.... if you want to be sure you'll get something recoreded, best bet is to record while you're playing, unfortunately... there's a program called tacview, so at least if the .ntrk fails, you can get an external view and analyse your flight, though it doesn't work on a lot of multiplayer servers, because it can be used in realtime to see whats going on while you're playing. basically it's a game of chance if a .ntrk will work or not, most likely it will work, except for that track with the awesome kill you just got. Nealius Posted January 26, 2016 Author Posted January 26, 2016 (edited) Tacview is great for tactical analysis but it's not possible to analyze something like landings. I have one Huey track that plays flawlessly, a couple of Su-25A tracks that play flawlessly, two Mirage tracks that play flawlessly, but recently any new track I record with the Mirage has the jet initiating a 90-degree turn on taxi too early and not even completing the 90 degrees. Now, what's interesting is that after restarting DCS the track still did not play properly. After restarting my computer it again did not play properly. However, after turning off my computer for the night and coming back to it in the morning, the track plays flawlessly. The only two differences between last night and this morning are that last night I had an X52 profile and FreeTrack running. Edited January 26, 2016 by Nealius
