Ok I've decided not to wait for pascal

I see no difference at all with DCS performance in Nvidia surround on my 2600K rig with GTX970 compared to my 6700K rig with 980ti. 3D surround performance is much greater with a 980ti over the 970 though but most of you here don't run that nor ever will. A rift will be somewhere in the requirements of Nvidia surround but much less taxing than 3D surround I assure you. My bet is that a 970 will run DCS on par with a 980ti from my experience with using them both.

But when gp100 comes out.. why not wait for 1080ti? But when that comes out.. way not wait for the next years model?

 

Or just buy one now. If you want the 980ti, then get it. It is more than enough horse power to run DCS. I run it flawlessly at max settings at 1440p resolution with it.

 

It isn't like you are married to it either. You can always upgrade in 2017, or 2018, etc.

 

Overall, I didn't want to play the 'waiting' game. I wanted to play actual games. :P Even if Pascal comes out tomorrow, it isn't like every game is now going to run like crap on my 980ti. Any new games coming out will run fine awesome on my 980ti. It will take time for developers to take advantage of the GPU atchitecture and develop for it.

Yup. For the most part, I typically buy -1 from the top of the line. I usually find that it's the sweet spot. I do make exceptions now and again - like pulling the trigger on Rift.

depends on how patient you are.

i cant wait until 2017 for a 1080Ti.

if anything, the Volta archetecture is coming out that same year.

me getting a pascal titan not only allows me to enjoy high end graphics, but it will hold me out till 2018 for Volta. getting 1080Ti know that Volt is coming out afterwards is a waste

search NVIDIA GP100. but it wont be out until april. annoucement may come at that time too. but obviously u are determined to get the 980Ti.

 

ur money.

if u really want a 980Ti that bad, i would suggest getting the cheapest 980Ti available, so that you dont over spend should you decide in the future that you want the next generation nvidia.

Ok ok I see your points and the gp100 looks actually quite good. But my issue is will I have to throw a tonne of money into new mb processor ddr4 etc or will my current rig.do the job and not bottleneck. That's the true fact of it.
