Conroy Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 (edited) With the last update i need to retraining myself in the landing procedure but i would like ask you this: is only a my fault, or the landing gears are actually too weak? Just to know if i need only to improve my skill. Edited February 16, 2016 by Conroy
NeilWillis Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 The landing gear is fine. You have to make sure you reduce the sink rate to acceptable levels, and it is fine.
haffende Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 I agree...gear does seem to collapse far too easily now since the last updates....heavy landing or not.
Conroy Posted February 16, 2016 Author Posted February 16, 2016 I agree...gear does seem to collapse far too easily now since the last updates....heavy landing or not. This is what i feel but i also undertsand what Neils says about the "sink" rate because this is excatly the problem, the "sink feeling" with the last update, when Mirage collapse on the runway. May be could also help a different setting of "slats" (open).
YoYo Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 With the last update i need to retraining myself in the landing procedure but i would like ask you this: is only a my fault, or the landing gears are actually too weak? Just to know if i need only to improve my skill. I didn't notice any problems. Works fine for me. Keep speed near 152-144 kts, AoA 13-14 deg and will be fine. Conroy Posted February 16, 2016 Author Posted February 16, 2016 (edited) Probably is an AoA problem as you say. I (try to) land usually with 160 Kts. From 1'02'', AoA. [ame] [/ame] Edited February 16, 2016 by Conroy
NeilWillis Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 I'm guessing you haven't done anything with your slats? In the latest version, you'll need to set up a couple of buttons to control extension and retraction of the slats. Use the Extend or Auto, and Retract or Auto, and cycle them prior to take-off. It seems they will not deploy unless the key-binds have been added. The lack of slats would account for the excessive sink rates you may be experiencing, and that will cause gear to collapse.
Conroy Posted February 16, 2016 Author Posted February 16, 2016 (edited) Correct. I'm testing the landing with the slats full extended. Edited February 16, 2016 by Conroy
grunf Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 I think the landing gear is too strong :D. I had some landings early on when I slammed into the ground so hard that I thought my gears went right through the wings, but nothing broke. What's your vertical speed?
spiddx Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 I think the landing gear is too strong :D. So you're coming from the MiG-21, too? ;) Specs: i9 10900K @ 5.1 GHz, EVGA GTX 1080Ti, MSI Z490 MEG Godlike, 32GB DDR4 @ 3600, Win 10, Samsung S34E790C, Vive, TIR5, 10cm extended Warthog on WarBRD, Crosswinds
grunf Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 So you're coming from the MiG-21, too? ;) LOL yeah... :D
Rlaxoxo Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Guys I think you're using Airbrake while you're landing Deploying airbrake while on final will make you drop like a rock be careful about that [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Youtube Reddit
Xenovia Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 actually the landing speed should be around 180 not 160, usually when i land at 160 i smash my landing gear. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Xenovia Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 funny, landing at 175-190 always works for me, and i never run out of runway :\ everyones told me that its 180 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Conroy Posted February 17, 2016 Author Posted February 17, 2016 What's your vertical speed? High.... So, 14 deg AoA, not extendeding slats, 150 speed, not extending airbrake, let however AoA to dictate our speed. Thank Smiley, thank guys!
mvsgas Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 High.... So, 14 deg AoA, not extendeding slats, 150 speed, not extending airbrake, let however AoA to dictate our speed. Thank Smiley, thank guys! Also, double check your weight. I do not know the actual numbers so I try to land with 50% fuel or less if possible. To whom it may concern, I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that. Thank you for you patience. Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..
NeilWillis Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Hey guys... why are you extending slats on landing? They are not intended to be used on landing at all. I'm not sure where it was suggested, I'll need to check our manual to make sure we don't suggest that. Hear from many people and every image and video of landing of the M2000 and slats are never deployed for landing. In any event aim for ~14 deg AOA, weight/loadout will dictate airspeed and the slightest of flares on touchdown and you should be good to go. It isn't the suggestion that you need slats for landing, but the absence of them with the latest update exposes weaknesses in people's techniques. As you say, do it right, and there is absolutely no need for them. It does however explain why it has suddenly become an issue.
joebloggs Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Don't want to sound thick here, but since I'm fairly new to this. When you are talking about slats are you meaning airbrakes? Cheers!
Conroy Posted February 17, 2016 Author Posted February 17, 2016 Don't want to sound thick here, but since I'm fairly new to this. When you are talking about slats are you meaning airbrakes? Cheers! Absolutely not. Slats
haffende Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 After the 1.5.3 patch today....it behaves itself beautifully. Thanks for the fix...this update is amazing....thanks.
Flori Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Did my first takeoff and successful landing yesterday. The langing gear strengh is fine and the M2000C is awesome. Thx for your hard work devs!
