hitman Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 Linux Thunderbird is what Ive used before, Ive tried Apache once or twice many many moons ago and I wasnt too thrilled about how Apache performed, although I did like Thunderbird. As far as getting OS/X...it took less time to crack this than it did windows xp, and windows xp will be running on macintrash computers as well? I guess Ill have to wait and see how people like this new vista interface and then try it myself. I admantly refuse to give up my americas army and Im personally fed up with microsucks. Definition of Windows: A 32 bit upgrade to 16 bit extensions for an 8 bit operating system designed to run on a 4 bit processor by a 2 bit company that doesn't like 1 bit of competition.

I would like it if someone made a Windows Lite o/s instead of what microsoft makes. If Microsoft EVER came out with something like that then I would "perhaps" die a happy man. Or perhaps a windows version that doesnt have as many viruses than the current version of windows, runs as good if not better than apple/mac, and virtually universal...minus all the security flaws of microsoft and incompatibility of most market-aftermarket software made only for pc. That would only be good logical choice but we dont have time for logical thought here.
Slammin Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 Neither did I. That was the goal of my post. I pretty much didn't understand the post I replied to. So I made a little joke. I wrote completely unlogical post in Polish, then run it through on-line translators back and forth several times, and here's my little monster. :smartass: That was hilarious! Really, as much as I love Unix, I always have a box somewhere in the house with some flavor of Unix on it, for gaming and just plain ease of use, I love XP. Been playing with the Vista beta's lately too and I am very impressed with it as well. Windows is bloated? Sure it is! Vista is even more bloated? You bet! But really, after you get a handle on things, you can 'un-bloat' them. Heck, all the latest flavors of Linux are bloated compared to what they were just 2 years ago. And yes, a bloated linux can be just as unstable as a stale XP install. Make it a habit of formatting every now and then until you learn how to keep Windows clean, and you will see much more stability and performance from your system. Windows bashing, especially until you really know how to do it right, only makes you look uninformed :P Abit IN9 32x MAX- Kentsfield QX6700 @3520 1.5 vcore watercooled D-Tek Fuzion/PA-160/MCR120/2x MCP655 2x2GB G-Skill 1066 5-5-5-15 2T@1.9vdimm 2x EVGA 580GTX 1.5GB SLI 2x 74GB Sata Raptor Raid0 2x 320GB Hitachi Sata II X-FI Elite Pro Dell U3011 Lian Li V2100B Corsair HX1000
dynamocl Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 Windows bashing, especially until you really know how to do it right, only makes you look uninformed :P Too true, I have never jumped on the bandwagon, and I work in network administrations and programming. I quite like XP, I like MS idea of gettings things to work together. I will just get things working and let people on the bandwagon slagging off MS roll on by to a system they think is better. Then wait for them to come back.
nscode Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 Every admin out there thinking he's safer just because he's running linux is not getting hacked for one of these two reasons: 1) pure statistics... there's not enough hackers out there to hack everyone 2) he is, but he's so bad that he doesn't even know it Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.
dynamocl Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 Yup, if you lie on an island, you won't get any visitors. Anyway, back on topic. Do we have a date yet for this beta? (2 weeks one anticipates the responce). Fileplanet used to be good (when you could download without queues for free), kind of hate their current subscription idea.
