JG-1_Vogel Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Afternoon folks! Just a quick question really. Given that many of you are playing the DCS 2.0 alpha, is there much of a difference between the current 1.5 release and 2.0? When I say this, are there what you would consider "must have" updates that would make flying this bird on the release version an inferior experience? I have to admit I've become rather taken by the M-2000C and trying to restrain myself from buying it before I get my next pay slip lol. I live in the middle of nowhere with a poor excuse for an internet connection so downloading another client would take quite some time, would be nice to be prepared so I can enjoy this aircraft to it's fullest.
Kreye Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 The main difference between the 1.5 and 2.0 version actually is the current version of the aircraft. Means that usually there is a patch for 2.0 in week one, a patch for 1.5 in week 2, 2.0 patch in week 3 again and so on. Since Razbam is really frequent in updating the Mirage the latest patch often means that either the 2.0 or the 1.5 is the more updated version. Right now for example the 2.0 is the latest version including IFF whilst end of this week there is most probably going to be the 1.5 patch which includes the IFF and additional updates. (in this case the radar azimut thingy) Of course there is a given possibility that the newest version's got some bugs slipped in, which don't appear in the 'older' version. Long story short you cannot really tell which version is inferior, except when you go for certain stuff which basically is added to the other version in the next patch. I hope that I was able to express my self understandable.
JG-1_Vogel Posted March 2, 2016 Author Posted March 2, 2016 Oh that's really good I'll be honest I didn't expect RAZBAM's update schedule to be so tight, kudos to them! Thanks for posting, will be counting the pennies to get the Mirage soon hopefully :).
Kreye Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 I hope, that I can help you to bypass the time until then. :D;) [ame= ] [/ame]
MegOhm_SD Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 (edited) Real nice video...but some guy singing Adeles "Hello" is kinda hard to take. So Lonewolf you have a new take on DCS now? That's good since last April it was the worst flight Sim ever in your experience. Since you have come around you don't have to count your pennies for the Mirage. If you want it now PM me, I will send you a key. You could try her out today! <S> :pilotfly: Edited March 2, 2016 by MegOhm_SD 5 Cooler Master HAF XB EVO , ASUS P8Z77-V, i7-3770K @ 4.6GHz, Noctua AC, 32GB Corsair Vengeance Pro, EVGA 1080TI 11GB, 2 Samsung 840 Pro 540GB SSDs Raid 0, 1TB HDD, EVGA SuperNOVA 1300W PS, G930 Wireless SS Headset, TrackIR5/Wireless Proclip, TM Warthog, Saitek Pro Combat Pedals, 75" Samsung 4K QLED, HP Reverb G2, Win 10
JG-1_Vogel Posted March 2, 2016 Author Posted March 2, 2016 I'd like to draw everyone's attention to the awesome and generous community member above, who has just sent me a key for the M-2000C. Rep him like there's no tomorrow :).:pilotfly::joystick:

JG-1_Vogel Posted March 2, 2016 Author Posted March 2, 2016 Wow, fly-by-wire certainly feels different. It's like it's on rails, but it's definitely not. You can tell there's stuff going on coordinating your turns and trim etc. Very strange coming from the MiG-21bis that's for sure. Oh, by the way.. don't turn off the flight computer. Stuff happens... :D Awesome model, looks utterly stunning with the new graphics engine! By the way, if anyone wants to fly tomorrow and show me the ropes for this bird throw me a PM I'll be on all afternoon (GMT) and we can fly.

Azrayen Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 Oh, by the way.. don't turn off the flight computer. Stuff happens... :D You can't turn it off. The only way to do it would be to turn off battery + alternators & transformers + seizing the engine. You're probably doing something else.
Zeus67 Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 You can't turn it off. The only way to do it would be to turn off battery + alternators & transformers + seizing the engine. You're probably doing something else. Probably using the GAIN and/or VRILLE switches. JG-1_Vogel Posted March 3, 2016 Author Posted March 3, 2016 The switch under the red guard just below the gear indicator lights, I thought that disabled the fly by wire? Makes the aircraft awful twitchy ;).
Zeus67 Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 The switch under the red guard just below the gear indicator lights, I thought that disabled the fly by wire? Makes the aircraft awful twitchy ;). That is the GAIN switch. It actually does not disable the FBW, there is no way to do that, but it sets it on a fixed value that cannot be reverted. This is an emergency switch when you have damage to the FBW computer. Basically it is a "get me home" switch. Once activated, it cannot be deactivated by the pilot. JG-1_Vogel Posted March 3, 2016 Author Posted March 3, 2016 Ah fair enough, having trouble finding much in the way of documentation so I'm really just learning via Youtube videos and trial and error at the moment :). Having an issue with the TDC slew axis currently though, I've bound it in the axis controls page to the micro-stick on my HOTAS Warthog on the throttle. It doesn't seem to work in sim, having to make do with the keyboard commands for the moment. Would really like to keep it on the micro-stick too since my other 4 pov HAT switches are used for other options.
