AstroEma
Hi all. Is there any way to move DCS 1.5 and 2.0 from my Storage HDD to my SSD? Do I have to reinstall everything or is there a simpler procedure? Thank you! E. some1
I guess you can try to move the folder and correct the paths in the registry (basically search the registry for the old DCS path and replace the entries with the new DCS paths). Not sure if it works. Alternatively, you can move the folder and create a junction in the old place. It's easy to do with something like http://schinagl.priv.at/nt/hardlinkshellext/linkshellextension.html Hardware: VPForce Rhino, FSSB R3 Ultra, Virpil T-50CM, Hotas Warthog, Winwing F15EX, Slaw Rudder, GVL224 Trio Throttle, Thrustmaster MFDs, Saitek Trim wheel, Trackir 5, Quest Pro
marluk
Yes there is. mklink command is the way to go. 1) Move the whole Eagle Dynamics folder structure to the SSD disk. 2) Using mklink command make symbolic link Here is syntax: mklink /J [old location] <new location> Here is tutorial I found for you: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1446905 The tutorial is for Steam game, but the same can be applied on any application. Tip.: The same system can be used to free space on SSD disk moving some files on HDD. Good luck! Iron Eagle
You can try disk cloning tool which makes a perfect copy of the disk. You find at least a few tools in the google from free to commercial versions. cichlidfan
I would just reinstall onto the SSD. While the other methods will work, anything but mlink will break all of your shortcuts in the Start Menu and on your desktop. You can edit each shortcut to fix it, but that also takes time. Mlink will work fine but the drawback is that you always have to remember that you did it since mlink connections don't have any visible indication that they are not real. Reinstallation takes very little human intervention, and not much time overall, while ensuring that there are no loose ends to come back and bite you later. Just my two cents! :) Edited March 16, 2016 by cichlidfan ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP!
