However you can directly press the zoom in or out key right after the mission loaded but before you press fly. Or if you have assigned an axis to your zoom (for example the HOTAS Warthog Slider), move it a bit for and back. If you do so it won't "auto-zoom", at least for me.

I mean at this stage:

Been complained about a thousand times on the forums. E.D. says it is a feature but won't say why. None the less.....it's not going away no matter what anyone thinks about it, or how many complaints are made.

Why??? No one knows.

You mean zooms out, not in?

AFAIK, there is no way to disable this.

Zoom-in - as in getting closer to the instruments.

I wrote zoom-in - but it might be a case of getting closer to the instruments - moving forward. The FOV angle seems to be the same.

The starting point is just right - and then it zooms in way to close.

Well ED can keep the zoom-in feature - but maybe there's a way of starting further back and then zoom in to the old starting position.

That would work.

This stupid zoom "feature" is that much annoying every time...

It makes me angry for years now.

Plz ED make an option to turn off this "feature"!

As said, you can bypass the feature by manually zooming in or out at the stage right before the mission starts.

By doing so it won't "auto-zoom".

This is why they don't remove it?

We wouldn't have to press zoom, we wouldn't need to be forced to press zoom, if the stupid "feature" would be killed.

I think PeterP addressed this issue somehow.
