Hello,

I bought the game online, but the program crashes at the end of loading missions. Here is more details

1. I have original LOMAC CD which I have never had any

problem with it, including adding multiple addon's.

2. I downloaded the FC1.1 (295,915,115 bytes) and

1.12a patch (57,564,780 bytes) online.

3. I reinstalled the windows XP pro since FC1.12a doesn't work previously, I want to make sure it is not the os problem. I start with a new installation, and applied all security patches and updates, i.e. I have XP sp2.

4. I installed LOMAC 1.0 at default folder. I didn't install ubi online game software. I didn't install DirectX since my XP is up-to-date.

5. I installed FC 1.10. Sometime I install season package and FC 1.12a in addition, it didn't change the result.

6. I used the previously saved registry file to

activate FC.

7. The program launched successfully and menu options

shown up, and the music of pilot chatting was played.

8. I load a instant mission at the righ side of the

menu, say, the Su-33 mission. I was shown a fighter (Su-33) image with a launch bar at bottom. When the launch bar arrived to the end.The screen blacks, and then returned to windows with a pop-up window saying WinXP wanted me send the following "error signature" to microsoft:

AppName: lockon.exe AppVer: 1.1.2.0 ModName: d3d8.dll

ModVer: 5.3.2600.2180 Offset: 0001027c

If I applied movie pack, season pack and 1.12a to

lockon FC, then the "error signature" became:

AppName: lockon.exe AppVer: 1.1.0.0 ModName: protect.dll

ModVer: 3.4.74.8 Offset: 00074fae

It is the usual windows error message you encounter at any program crash.

11. I have shut down everyone background applications

(antiviruses, firewalls, ICQ and ect.). I have set all graphics settings in lockon options to LOW. I tried multiple versions (52.16, 71.84, 76.45,77.72,84.21) of nvidia driver. I have cleaned up previous nvidia driver before install new driver. None of these worked.

12. I was able to play lock on: modern air combat and FC demo flawlessly.

13. My hardware and software:

OS: winXP professional sp2

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3400+

Memory: 1GB DDR400 RAM

Graphic Card: PNY GeForce 6600GT 128MB

Game control: Saitek X45

Antivirus: Avast 4.7 home edition

Internet: 3Mbps download

14. I have worked with FC tech support team and didn't solve the problem.

Could anybody give some advice?

Thanks

I assume you have tried loading different missions from within the mission editor?

Might sound like im reaching here but your problem could be your motherboard controler. Esp if this is a SATA disk , this problem and symptom sound like a bad SATA disk or a cracked sata cable. This is either new disk corruption or old corruption. If I were you i would run memtest 86 and test your memory and clock setttings . If thats ok then start blaming a hardware problem for corruption. Run chkdsk in dos . reboot.

I just went through hell with a sata drive on a socket a motherboard. Either the sata controller gave up or the drive gave up. I replaced the drive for a ide version and the comp is stable again back to customer. I got the drive to seem stable but when trying any boot operations like repair windows or any prog to reconize the disk it would not register or see the sata disk. very weird!!!

So make sure you dont have drive errors in event viewer and can perform a xp repair. back up comp before repair just in case.

Also since your run XP check event viewer in admin tools for any wierd errors .

let us know what you find. This sounds like a drive problem to me . Be prepared to dl add ons and start all over at least.

Did you install the game with one of your controllers not atached to the PC? Like a steering wheel?

I had the same problem some time ago and I found that my wheel was not atached at the install procedure. Try removing the controlers while starting the game and make a test. if it is working then you need to reinstall with overwright. Remember to back up your registry with the utility.

I have problems with my mobo's memory controller, hence the terrible performance after a while in loakc on, and random shutdowns due to wrong memory allocation in CS:S. And I dont want to RMA it, as I dont have a spare, and buying a spare makes RMA unnecessary, and since my mobo is an Asus A8V without any WiFi or other useless gizmos, chances are I will never be able to sell my second mobo. :(

Here's a suggestion: create a new file in the lomac root directory named lockon.exe.local (make sure the file extension is .local i.e. you have filename extensions turned on in explorer). Launch lockon in the usual way (you may get an error or two when the program starts).

S77th-goya: I tried to load different missions, none worked.

emenance: You are right I had used SATA drive, that was before I reinstalled the XP. The new XP is installed on a IDE. When I bought this computer last year, I tested memory and it is fine and stable, now the same. I didn't overclock the computer. I will check other suggestions.

zaelu: I have a X45 and it is plugged in the USB port.

force_feedback: My computer is quite stable. currently I see nothing wrong with it.

yamangman: I have tried this before, I will try it again.

Thanks for all of your suggestions. I will try all of your suggestions and see if I have a solution.
