Howdy! I'm firing up this module for the first time, and I have a question about the FOV.

I usually bind the zoom axis to my right rudder brake pedal. (Thanks gavagai for turning me on to this.) When I want to zoom in on something, I depress the pedal. When the pedal is not depressed, the view is zoomed all the way out. I do this for the MiG-21bis, and it works great.

I've tried doing the same for the F-86, but the zoomed out FOV is way too broad -- so much so that the view is visibly distorted at the edges. It is really distracting. Any suggestions? I've tried zooming in and out by binding the zoom commands to my HOTAS, but it is not as intuitive to me as using my rudder brake pedal.

Thanks!

Hopefully Belsimtek will eventually code the pre setting of the FOV for all their modules as they currently do in the fabulous MI-8.... we should also prey that this will be a standard in all modules.

HP G2 Reverb (Needs upgrading), Windows 10 VR settings: IPD is 64.5mm, High image quality, G2 reset to 60Hz refresh rate. set to OpenXR, but Open XR tool kit disabled.

DCS: Pixel Density 1.0, Forced IPD at 55 (perceived world size), DLSS setting is quality at 1.0. VR Driver system: I9-9900KS 5Ghz CPU. XI Hero motherboard and RTX 3090 graphics card, 64 gigs Ram, No OC... Everything needs upgrading in this system!.

Vaicom user and what a superb freebie it is! Virpil Mongoose T50M3 base & Mongoose CM2 Grip (not set for dead stick), Virpil TCS collective with counterbalance kit (woof woof). Virpil Apache Grip (OMG). MFG pedals with damper upgrade. Total controls Apache MPDs set to virtual Reality height. Simshaker Jet Pro vibration seat.. Uses data from DCS not sound... goodbye VRS.

I use a POV hat on my joystick, I think you will find the rudder brake pedal difficult in other ways, for example, what will you use for brake pedals?

differential braking in the Sabre is fairly useful and the Rudder Brake Pedal is ideally designed for it, on the other hand the POV hat is perfectly designed to act as a POV hat, it zooms in when you depress it and stays at that level of zoom and FOV when you release it unlike a brake pedal which naturally springs back to the fully zoomed out when you release it.

I can't image using a brake pedal for this, but since it is an axis, you can use the axis tune panel in DCS and change the curve to set the minimum FOV to be where you like it. You probably want to play around a bit to find the right settings.

That is likely true, but I think the real problem is that it is spring loaded and unless you hold it at a position it will be one way or the other, you could just use any key to get that effect

I use the toe axis for zoom too

Try this solution for limiting the max zoom

Actually the zoom view is much more useful than R and L brakes. Sure there are reasons real planes have these, no doubt. But sim planes all work fine with a single mono brake. Nose wheel planes like the F-86 can just use one brake axis.

The WWII birds need R & L brakes but they're only used to turn once or twice on the ground and then aren't used anymore whereas the zoom is used constantly. I just use HOTAS buttons for WWII brakes. Having the zoom on your foot frees up all your fingers for planes like the A-10 where you need every one. All the HOTAS buttons have other functions beside zoom. I think I got the idea from Gavagai too.

I will try your solution. I tried using the POV hat solution as well, but I keep reflexively depressing the right toe brake whenever I want to zoom in. Muscle memory I suppose. I started using that method in Rise of Flight.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will report back.
