I wasn't aware they were still flying given the lack of spares.

Anyone know how much they've been modified over the years?

This article (LINK BELOW) suggests that the Persian F-14 has undergone improvements over the years, including a new radar and the introduction of a new long range missile, based on the AIM-54.

It can be hard to separate the propaganda from the actual stuff at times when talking about Iran, but there is absolutely no question that they are still flying along side their old F-4's and F-5's. From what I've read and seen, the Iranian F-14's are running digital radar (based on the original analog one), cloned AIM-54's (almost certainly with modern electronics), new engines (Russian if memory serves) and PGM support (LGB's confirmed but maybe others too). I've also heard they can also use R-27's and R-73's but haven't seen any evidence of it. Ditto for glass cockpit.

Edit: I'm actually far more interested in the 1980's Iranian F-14A's that fought in the Iran-Iraq war. Those were plain vanilla F-14A's very similar to what we will get with this module. The main differences are the lack of an RWR screen in the front seat (still in the back of course) and the Iranians were still using AIM-7E's. I doubt that last part required any sort of modification, but it would be nice if DCS gets the older 1970's versions of missiles instead of just the AIM-7M and AIM-9M from the 1980's and 1990's

nearly 40 years ago, I won't surprise if they have "aim-54" or upgraded radar made by themselves. the missiles between 40 years ago and now is totally different...

and propaganda,,, ?

oh dude, don't always said something and something is propaganda, I called it, appeal to propaganda.

If you think that news is fake, plz type "T h i s I s T h e F a k e N e w s."

If you think that pic and airplane is fake, plz type this is the shitty plastic model.

Will the DoD cost such lots of money to make some model which is easy to see through by a glimpse? very funny.

Always always, the government won't be such boring things right now (maybe except washing powder in tube). But those poster, journalist, website and media company needs to "propaganda" in order to earn money. I don't think Persian guys will earn something from this "propaganda".

just because you don't think they have anything to gain from bluffing doesn't mean they don't think so though.

I've said if you think that is fake plz said it's fake, and give proof.

The propaganda means someone do something to cheat others by Subjective Bad Faith, it have guilty and negative sense in this word.

Are you sure that is not a true plan?

Korea ,Japs and Turkish also have next gen combat aircraft plan, are they propaganda?

Maybe they doesn't have enough tech let it come true, and only on blue print, so it's the propaganda? Actually everything you don't like is creepy propaganda.

Have you seen that awesome ads of lockheed next gen combat aircraft?

Yea, you won't called it propaganda, you guys called it commercial.

if the masses dont mind a speculative airplane then go for it (personalty id be ecstatic for DCS F-23 or F-32 :D), but for the needed realism we're more likely to get data needed for such sim on a modern russian aircraft than a modern iranian f-14

With the new screenshots of the Strait of Hormuz map, having at least the older AIM-7s would be a nice touch to make it a little more realistic for a 1970-1980 era conflict. How hard would it be to change a few data values for the M model and force it to behave more like the E's?
