Ukr_Alex Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 So I finally have it. I dont expect much as far as graphics and flight modeling goes but I just wanted something with complex systems... So my question is. What are the essential downloads for it? Every sim has them. What are they for Falcon. Thanks in advance, any help much appriciated :Core2Duo @ 435FSB x 7 3.05GHz : ATI x1900xtx: 2GB Patriot @ 435Mhz : WD 250Gb UATA: Seagate 320Gb SATA2: X-Fi Platinum:
Guest IguanaKing Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 Which version do you have? That's a good place to start. ;)
Ukr_Alex Posted August 27, 2006 Author Posted August 27, 2006 This one http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0008GLHLW/102-9369443-2799366?v=glance&n=468642 :Core2Duo @ 435FSB x 7 3.05GHz : ATI x1900xtx: 2GB Patriot @ 435Mhz : WD 250Gb UATA: Seagate 320Gb SATA2: X-Fi Platinum:
Guest IguanaKing Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 Doh!!! Can't help you with that one, but the F4AF guys here will be able to. I'm still a classic F4 player...don't know a thing about the best mods for AF. :D
Jester_159th Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 Get it patched up to 1.07 and that's about it. They made some changes to the auto installer in the last patch, so if you're patching from the oringinal install you might need to run the auto installer twice (1st time goes to 1.06, 2nd time get's you up to date). There are no free add on downloads availabe for F4:AF that I know of. There are two payware addon s though, Hi Tiles and Stopworks pits (new custom 2D pits for the Block 42 and 52 Vipers). You'll find links to their websites on the Lead Pursuit site. IIRC, you'll find links to some handy training tools there as well. If not also check the F4:AF forum at SimHQ. There used to be loads of useful links over there.
SuperKungFu Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 In short, there are no major mods for F4:AF due to their "laws." The only official addons for it is HitilesAF, stopworks pit...and...that's it lol. You can download some skins, you can do a search for that over at frugals world and you can find some (but not a lot). just like IguanaKing, i am also a classic Falcon player. I switch over after playing F4:AF, maybe in the future you will find yourself in the same position. The reason i switched over is because its better for solo missions, better graphics (especially FF3), and more realistic (IMHO). F4:AF is good for online play because its stable and it avoids the long dance you have to do to get the original Falcon up to speed, but in my opinion, the classic Falcon wins hands down. edit: just a little comparison if you were looking for eye candy (since you are coming in from the world of Lock On) The one on top is the classic falcon, while the bottom is F4:AF, IMHO, the one on top looks closer to the real F-16. especially the canopy area. Ukr_Alex Posted August 27, 2006 Author Posted August 27, 2006 Thanks for the quick replies. I could get the classic Falcon 4 aswel. I mean it costs practicaly nothing. In that case what would I need..........Do i need to make 50 downloads and patch it up? Or are there some big service packs that should do the trick? :Core2Duo @ 435FSB x 7 3.05GHz : ATI x1900xtx: 2GB Patriot @ 435Mhz : WD 250Gb UATA: Seagate 320Gb SATA2: X-Fi Platinum:
Guest IguanaKing Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 I'm an SP4.2 and BMS man myself. Man that jet feels nice with those mods in place. No more riding on rails and the doppler effect in the sound is awesome. Volumetric clouds and lots of other cool stuff are available in those mods. Not sure if they're available for F4AF, but Skypat also has some kick-ass pits for quite a few different aircraft in classic F4. The pay-ware ones are definitely worth the money if you have a big monitor. Ruh-roh...we may just end up sending Alex on an Ebay quest. :D
Ukr_Alex Posted August 27, 2006 Author Posted August 27, 2006 Ruh-roh...we may just end up sending Alex on an Ebay quest. :D They got em as low as 12$ here http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00000K4KF/sr=1-2/qid=1156653674/ref=pd_bbs_2/102-9369443-2799366?ie=UTF8&s=videogames Ill place an order now. Okay for F4 classic I downlaoded these. SP4 Free Falcon 3 BMS 2.0 Should that do? :Core2Duo @ 435FSB x 7 3.05GHz : ATI x1900xtx: 2GB Patriot @ 435Mhz : WD 250Gb UATA: Seagate 320Gb SATA2: X-Fi Platinum:
Guest IguanaKing Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 First, you need to patch to 1.08 with the original Falcon. Then, you can install either FF3 (actually, I think FF3 is a comprehensive, "no need for the Falcon dance" package, or you can install SP 4.2 and BMS 2.0 along with the BMS patch for Windows XP. Either way, you won't be disappointed...that is IF you are ready to be overwhelmed by the avionics, pit environment, COMs, and systems management. Falcon 4 ain't for the timid, so be ready. :smilewink: The graphics, although improved over the original release, will still rip your eyeballs out compared to LOMAC...but its an excellent sim for its age. That DC is also quite cool. If you fail your mission...guess what? The war continues and you or somebody else just has to go back there again. Your failure may also affect the ground war.
SuperKungFu Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 For the Free Falcon route it is easy since there's a guide made by a guy name aragon, you can find it on the free falcon website. Or you can follow my route for Free falcon3.1+Cobra1.1.1: Original Falcon 4.0 CD FreeFalcon3-BT FreeFalcon-31 FreeFalcon-Cobra-Patch F16_3DSuperpit.exe PumpyUpgradeInstaller09 Install Theaters KOR FF CAFE optimized update v3.6 by jeon Add 2D cockpits Hitiles HiTiles2Falcon4+ HFFM for FF3.1_full updated for pumpy model (delete! the "sim" folder created inside the main folder) AirbaseTileUpgrade02 Note: this is my install and i made it as best as possible so some of these things you may not need so don't let this long list scare you. Because at the end of the day, it was sure worth the wait. And install of this does indeed take a while since its basically changing the entire game engine/code whatever. This is the SP4.2 route + BMS2.0 Original Falcon 4.0 CD SP4.2 OCI Hitiles BMS2.0 SP4.2 BMS Data v1.0 BMSallversionsradarfix Skins and Cockpits BAZT-SRTM F4:AF is easy its basically the cd, and the the patch followed by hitilesAF or stopworks walmis_s_updated_munitions_1.21 skins That's it for now, i can't talk about "OF" but i believe you can do the research on your own over at frugals. Warning: theres a lot of politics over there so watch what you say. Good Luck. Edit: Small correction IguanaKing, there's no need for the 1.08 patch for the original Falcon for either routes. Ukr_Alex Posted August 27, 2006 Author Posted August 27, 2006 Thanks for that :) pfff and here is I sitting thinking that my race sims take a while to patch:megalol: :Core2Duo @ 435FSB x 7 3.05GHz : ATI x1900xtx: 2GB Patriot @ 435Mhz : WD 250Gb UATA: Seagate 320Gb SATA2: X-Fi Platinum:
Guest IguanaKing Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 Thanks, Kid. I've had the same copy of it on my hard drive for ages, I couldn't remember what the requirements were.
SuperKungFu Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 If you can any more question you can always sign up at Frugals or FreeFalcon forums and I can help you there, I'm using the same name over there. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
SUBS17 Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 F4AF highly reccomended:thumbup: , as for F4 I'd go for FF3-Cobra as SP4s graphics aren't as good. F4AF overall is better as it is more stable and excellent for online play. The next patch for F4AF is hopefully going to feature Hyperlobby so it'll be much easier for people to play online and find online servers. [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]
