hi

 

im trying to create a downed pilot scenario where i need a semi destroyed plane which is continuously smoking for easier identification at range.

 

I cant seem to wrap my head around it.

 

any pointers :)

The best way I found is place your plane on the ground, and then put a zone on it, make a trigger that is explosion in zone and adjust the altitude until you get the level of destruction you want.

 

As for smoke, I don't think it's possible to get continuous black smoke. Best to do colored smoke that the downed pilot pops when players get near.

Put a static aircraft and explode it.!!! If the smoke ligth off spawn a unit close to it and explode it too at required time... this will give you time with smoke.

if you don't mind making the mission mod dependent lilkiki's fire objects give you an invisible object that when you destroy them give off fire and smoke for hours. I made a slightly tweaked version to give small, medium and large smoke & fire effects http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2545192&postcount=39. It's JSGME ready and all you need to do is place it at the same position as your static aircraft and then put a mission start trigger in to explode the fire object which would probably destroy/damage the static aircraft.
