Hi All, I'm a newbie to DCS and prepare to build a new PC maybe 80%-90% of time on DCS.

Sounds to be 6700k, 16GB DDR4 2800/3000 & GTX 1080 are the unquestionable items to me (p.s. play with Vive).

But goes to SSD, what will you suggest if I choose from 1) Samsung 950 Pro or 2) 850 pro or 3) others?

Sounds to me >2000Mb/s is attractive, but is it useful for DCS?

Thanks all.

I Have a 500GB 850 pro, was very expensive, but DCS runs better on it than my OCZ Agility 3, so it was worth it for me.

not sure if this helps.

The main thing is random 4k read/write speed, not the sequencial speed. Those 2200 matter only if you copy one file from one folder to another. The speed at which windows is loading, games and other stuff works depends on random read/write speeds. As you can see there not much difference between 850 pro and 950 pro. So save your cash and take 850 pro;)

Samsung 950 Pro (5 years or 200 TBW, Reliability 2 million hours)

Samsung 850 Pro (10 years or 150 TBW, Reliability 1.5 million hours)

Both are excellent, get the cheapest.

While it doesn't give you as much of a boost as in sequential reads, it still offers some boost.

E.g. in Anandtech's review, the IOMeter 4K Read test would indicate a 50% improvement which might be significant enough to warrant the bump in price.

It would be nice if someone had both and could compare e.g. the DCS Nevada loading times. :)

I agree with Demon. The 950 Pro would be nice but you won't really get much of a performance improvement for DCS beyond the 850 Pro. Really, unless you do an unusually large amount of disk writes as part of your daily usage, even the 850 EVO would be fine.

Allright let me through couple cents in this conversation. Did you hear about NVME? Since you already have top level desktop (looks like you do like top stuff) - your motherboard of course had a PCIe 3.0 slot in there. Yes there is a lot of different types of SSD's but for sure internal NVME is THE BEST. You will understand me after that::pilotfly:
