I'm also a new comer, with Vive, 6700k & 980Ti usually on A10C. Besides FPS, my problem is, I got difficulty to read the HUD data, No matter how to center the cookpit (num pad 5), problem exist......

There is a pixel density fix coming for Rift. Not sure it will do anything on the Vive. Also, try pressing on the HMD to your face. I found that when I pressed it closer, it became much clearer. Some have resorted to shaving the foam!

Hi, I am new with DCS. And it is/was the best expierence on the Vive so far. But just DCS World (Stream) installed with the Mustang in in free flight my frames drop to 45fps in some cases. Mostly when I fly or look in one specific direction. Even whens a town is not in sight. It´s still playable but not as perfect as with smooth 90fps. It kills ther immersion.

System: i7 4790k, 16GB, GTX980ti 6GB

So, my question: What do i have to tweak in the grafics options to get ist smooth without loosing all details?

It cannot be done with the current engine and HW.

Very happy to report that the game is now very much playable. Even missions like battle no longer have the awful juddering slow downs when bombings commence. Now I'm really going to get into this game. Looking forward to BOS too!

Wolf8312 did you end up making any configuration changes to get the improved performance? I just unboxed my Vive last night and anticipate spending some time this weekend tweaking DCS.

Hey mike, just don't use too much msaa depending on your system, same with pixel density.I play with 4x and 1.4 to 1.6 pd...if you got problems with judder turning down, off shadows, traffic, water always helps.

In steam vr options make sure asynchrone reprojection is turned on and interleaved reprijection is off.

This works best for me with the vive...but I think every vr user should fiddle with the settings for himself to get the best experience...

Guys I am running a vive on a 980ti continuously since August and we have a group of six of us that fly together in multiplayer and sometimes fairly large ground battles, and there are AI aircraft, (your usual coop stuff) I have not experienced this issue with stuttering when the enemy drops bombs. The Vive has performed great for me. What do you mean by endless bombings? Is this some kind of WW2 carpet bombing mission? If you give me an idea I can set up a test mission and try and replicate the problem on my end.

This is in 1.5 and 2.0. Here's my specs:

i7 6700k 4.0 ghz, 32gb DDr4, 500mb SSd, 1TB HDD 980ti6gb card MSIz170a gaming atx. Hope that helps.

Not really for me when settings were on relatively low with MSSA set to 4x/2x terrain high and textures medium or high, pixel density on 1, it still looks good enough for me and even when it used to be unplayable always ran smoothly except for when bombings were happening.

Now even on the mission 'battle' these bombings that used to wreck everything dont seem to bother me, and head tracking remains fluid. Its exciting to think that the Vive and DCS really is improving and hopefully it will only continue to get better its all in alpha really and though its lagging behind the Rift as its basically the same tech I think its a sure thing were gonna catch up. Gonna try 2.0 now!

The main thing I hate is shimmering so MSSA is one of the most important things for me but I turn of A filtering as that doesent really look good in VR anyway.

I'm very happy with it because it was really the judder-fest bombings that were ruining the experience for me but now they are gone I am so excited to finally be able to play this game and not simply a few missions here and there. Things can only get better too!

Another point, it seems to me that every time there is a vive update it resets these settings and you have to redo them...

All, thanks for the configuration suggestions. Applying the changes recommended by DigitalEngine, I've been able to get 45fps consistently in 1.5.5 which makes flying much more enjoyable. Will try the same changes in 2.04 and see what's that like later today.

On a related note, does anyone else think the name of this thread should be changed? With all the good suggestions provided here, the Vive is certainly very playable now!

Yeah, or update and edit the first post... ;)

Ok guys updated it but wasn't able to work out how to change the title of the thread itself!

Anyone know if DcS is working so much better now solely because of the asynchronous reproduction, or have the Devs themselves just better optimized the game?
