BazLightyear Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 Having just finished the training missions in the awesome MiG-15, & particularly enjoying ther landing training whereby a 'follow me' vehicle was waiting for me to roll out at the end of the runway, & to guide me back to the ramp. It really was a great idea & very realistic/immersive & I came to thinking that I would love to include such things in the mission editor but my ME skills are quite basic; knowing that they possibly have something to do with triggers? Could someone with the right knowledge possibly explain to me in a few easy steps (if possible), just how to go about setting up to get such a vehicle waiting for me off the runway to guide the player back to parking ramp?! I'm assuming you give the vehicle it's set waypoints and set up some sort of trigger function for when the player enters a certain point at the runway's end? Any help would be very appreciated indeed. BazLightyear Posted June 15, 2016 Author Posted June 15, 2016 If no one can help with advice on creating a 'Follow Me' vehicle, does anyone know of a good & easy-to-understand tutorial on moving vehicles, triggers etc. My searches have been quite fruitless. Thank you. snowsniper Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 (edited) best way is to open the mission you talk about in the ME and see how it is done in the trigger and in the waypoint fonction of the AIunit. best way to learn is to start from existing missions and trigger. if you want to go for it from scratch I would try something with those trigger maybe use the trigger moving zone http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=89957 once aircraft landed ( alt < xx) then active unit(followerunit) if inside trigger moving zone stop or go low if not inside and aircraft landed ( alt < xx) then go faster if not inside and aircraft not landed ( alt > xx) then wait must be an easier way to do it with the IAunitfollower waypoint actions. BazLightyear Posted June 16, 2016 Author Posted June 16, 2016 To both of you ... many many thanks for your help & links. Very much appreciated :) Windows 10 64-bit OS Home | Intel Core i7 4790K @ 4.00GHz | 16GB Dual-Channel DDR3 | 238GB Crucial C300-CTF SSD | nVidia GeForce GTX 980ti with Corsair H60 liquid cooler | ASUSTeK Z97-A M'board | Saitek X52 Pro | CH Pro Pedals | Track IR 5.4.1 with TrackClipPro
BazLightyear Posted June 16, 2016 Author Posted June 16, 2016 (edited) Thanks - Had a look at the examples etc and tried to dissect as well as I could but I think I'm running before I can walk as I do not even understand the basics it seems - 'flags' for example ... what they are?! their significance, how they're numbered, etc etc. I was following the other guys' "example" & was mirroring it ok up to the point I had a look at the advanced actions in the waypoint conditions & came across a 'ELPRS' or something similar & just lost it all after that as I couldn't find it within the drop down list on my little mission. I'm not a mission builder in any way & have no understandings of script language etc & all I merely want is to be able to have a vehicle waiting for me off the runway after roll out & to have it guide me back to the ramp. I thought it was going to an easy case of creating the unit, giving it waypoints & throwing down some kind've trigger whereby when the players enters that zone, the vehicle follows the route & waypoint parameters you've given it. If anyone knows of an idiots guide to triggers, 'flags' etc then I'd be very appreciative in wanting to view it. Cheers for the help thus far. I'm sure I'll get there ;) Edited June 16, 2016 by BazLightyear Windows 10 64-bit OS Home | Intel Core i7 4790K @ 4.00GHz | 16GB Dual-Channel DDR3 | 238GB Crucial C300-CTF SSD | nVidia GeForce GTX 980ti with Corsair H60 liquid cooler | ASUSTeK Z97-A M'board | Saitek X52 Pro | CH Pro Pedals | Track IR 5.4.1 with TrackClipPro

ex81 Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 I tried to place a "Follow Me" Humwee on the runway and gave it the right waypoints to lead a landing plane to the parking position. Created a trigger which starts the Follow Me vehicle to move when the landed jet is in the trigger zone. I`m not happy with the solution, cause the FM vehicle must have "late activation". So it is not visible before the plane gets into the trigger zone. On the other hand it`s good to have at least a nearly satisfying result. btw. Why don`t Humwees turn on their lights when it becomes dark outside ??? What goes up, must come down ! Wrecking Crew Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 That's a good question,,, C-130s don't, either. Check the Visible Before Start. An alternative to Late Activate is to use an Advanced Waypoint Action to Hold the Hummer at the very beginning of its pathing. Then release it with a Group Resume I think it is, with enough time for it to get onto the taxiway.
