I've been interested in buying the Mirage 2000 for a while now. It looks good, both in terms of textures and modeling but my concern is about the sounds... Right now it still has the default DCS jet sounds (like the C-101 for instance) and it sounds rather weak, boring and generic. I know making a custom soundpack isn't an easy thing. I personnally doesn't have a clue about how it's done. But I do hope to see one for the Mirage, either by Razbam themselves or by a talented modder. I would definitely pull out the credit card in that case and purchase the module. Any idea, any info on a possible project?

From Zeus:

"ED gave us a custom sound control, a sounder, for the M-2000C. So in our developer version, we are using our custom sounds. We are not happy how the sounds, well sound in-game at this time. Unfortunately we cannot edit and test the sounder directly. We make our edits and send them to ED and then ED send us an update in which then we test how it sounds now.

Why we need this back and forth between ED and us? Because the M-2000C sounder is an integral part of DCS so AI versions of the M-2000C can use the same sounds as the player version.

This indirect way of editing and testing makes the job difficult and slow. But we will get there eventually."

I love the new sounds especially the engine sounds when taxiing. Is there a way to use these sounds for the stable branch. I'm having loads of issues with this beta patch? One other thing. Is there supposed to be a warning noise when the gear is raised and lowered?

Safest thing is to wait a week until it hits the stable branch - assuming that they iron out the bugs with TrackIR, etc. that appeared in this release.

No. Zeus said it's a whole new system, so you won't have the needed code in the current 1.5.3 stable; it's not about "just" swapping sound files.

One other thing. Is there supposed to be a warning noise when the gear is raised and lowered?

"Gear not down" alarm = no sound, just the lever blinking red. Triggered by low airspeed+RPM < 80%.

"Gear not up" alarm = LIM (limit) sound + LIM light (WIP) + gear lever blinking red. Triggered by high airspeed.
