Ok, I am building a new computer. My intention is two 1080's driving a curve 55in 4k display. I would prefer a 50in. Suggestions??

I am not interested in VR as I know I would get ill vertigo, with the equipment that is currently available. Do the current 4k TV's have DVI inputs or does the 1080 have an hdmi output. Will the current 4k TV's ( I assume they all have 120hz..?) have the same resolution as a 4k monitor? Is there any difference between a 4k monitor and a 4k tv?

A ways back when DCS was suppose to support 3-D I picked up an 120hz monitor and tried to get it to run....it kinda worked, the cockpit looked great but looking outside was distorted and I think several of us that tried it, finally gave up. This was using the glasses.

But seeing that the new latest and greatest TV's (4k and 120hz) run at the required scan rate......will they work in 3-d...

Also as I think about it, our regular tv is a 3-D type that you wear glasses to get the 3-D effect. Wonder if I input DCS and enabled the 3-D if that would work on my tv. The tv is a Panasonic.

Let me know what you suggest. Thanks. :D

Is ED going to support 3-D or did they give up?

I know that DCS does not support SLI but several of my other gaming interests do. ( Several have mentioned that their SLI setups help somewhat but opinions vary on that.)

The problem with TVs is the input lag, some TVs have 100ms or more input lag, in other words, you press a button on your joystick, the thing happens on the computer, but you don't see it on the screen for a noticeable amount of time... where this is fine for things like solitare, for a first person shooter or flight sim, any delay between what you do, and what you see on screen, can make it unplayable, or very frustrating...\

that's why computer monitors are so much more expensive, as they are specifically designed for low motion blur and low latency..

TVs are designed for pre-recorded things, where they can just sync the audio with the video, and it doesn't matter how long it takes for the picture to actually appear on screen, so long as the framerate is good... feel bad for console gamers...

your TV might be fine...

I have the Samsung 48" JS9000 4K curved TV running off of 2x GTX 980 Tis with fan cooling in a mid-tower. I love the TV and get 60 FPS in SLI, but the fans spin up pretty high such that I turned the case away and put it behind the TV. A full tower case and water cooling would solve that.

Well, I went flying last night and got only 47-55 FPS and ended up removing one of the GTX 980 Ti's to see how it would do, and it ran fine with the single card, back at 60 FPS and cooler, too.

Guys, thanks for your info. Wreck, do you notice any lag from your controls to the response on your tv?

Sure it does! I just had to modify the monitor setup .lua file for my 65'' FullHD 3d plasma. I attached it. Btw, I notice no lag on my TV. I don't use the 3d often, however, due to ghosting and 1/2 the resolution...

Impalor,

As I mentioned previously, I purchased a 120hz monitor to try the 3-D...long time ago...inside the cockpit was ok but looking outside the image was distorted completely. Several of us here tried but we gave up. ED was suppose to fix this but I never heard that they did. Time moved on and everyone forgot about the 3-D when talk of VR and the rift came along.

So I don't know if ED fixed that problem or not.

I have a 50in Panasonic plasma 3-D. I will give it a shot...wonder if the glasses that came with the tv will work correctly ? I do have the Nvidia glasses.
