whiteside Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 Hi guys, I just built a DCS based flight sim for a local air museum by my house. Its in the cockpit of an L-29 Delphin Jet trainer. The monitor that came with the system will not show the post screen and I subsequently cannot see the Bios. Even if I hit delete key to get in, it remains a black screen. If I don't do anything, it just boots up nicely to Windows 10. It seems like a finicky setup and I get hung starts on occasion so I would suspect there may be a conflict somewhere but I cant find it if there is. I have seen this years ago and I forgot how I fixed it. If I use another monitor from home, i see the post and I can get right into the bios. So...Is it the monitor or in the monitor? Thanks for your comments. Hadwell Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 your new monitor takes too long to boot up, by the time it does, windows is booting, that's what this sounds like... instead, just spam the key to get into your bios the second you turn your computer on, and you'll be in the bios by the time your monitor boots up... cichlidfan Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 I hadn't considered what Hadwell said but it is a valid idea. My 4k monitor is the slowest to start of any monitor I have used since the picture tube days. I am used to it so I don't think about it, but it retrospect, it would act as you described in your OP. doveman Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 As the screen stays black when you press Delete, the problem may be the port you're using on your graphics card is unable to show the BIOS on that monitor. I recall having a similar problem, something like only one of my two DVI ports worked for the BIOS, so you could try switching to a different port or if the monitor has several inputs, like DP and DVI, then try adding an extra cable to connect the one you're not already using and select that in the monitor's menu to see if that works for the BIOS. Hadwell Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 Or use an adapter, HDMI and DVI are the same, just different connectors, and displayport can be converted into hdmi or dvi My youtube channel Remember: the fun is in the fight, not the kill, so say NO! to the AIM-120.
