sedenion Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 That would be cool the ILS.VOR and TACAN freq be preconfigured to fit the landing airfield choosen in the mission editor... at least, a way in the mission editor to setup them at startup. Is this kind of things somewhere in the "TODO" list ?

Don't know what is this feature... all what i see is radio pre-setup (no ILS or TACAN) and additional properties where we have rocket burst, laser code, bullseye, but no ILS/TACAN
sedenion Posted July 8, 2016 Author Posted July 8, 2016 You're lazy :D Absolutely... therefore, i don't want to learn by heart all airfields's parameters, so go to F10 to check parameters, then "click click click"... is boring.

sedenion Posted July 8, 2016 Author Posted July 8, 2016 (edited) This is something you should have on your kneeboard. kneeboard or F10... same thing for me :) EDIT: I just tested, it's even worst, you have to navigate through N pages and stick your eye on the screen to read the precious data... When you click it, it'll load up the mission and drop you in the cockpit. Set any switches/knobs/whatever to the positions you like and then press escape and exit. You'll go back to the ME. Save the mission. Next time you load the mission normally (or green button in ME), it should've remembered the settings. (If you want to prove it, backup then rename the .miz file to a .zip, go in and you'll find an sub directory matching the aircraft name. It'll contain a .lua file which matches the settings you've picked). I've not tried with the M2000 as I don't own it. It works for most ED modules though, but not necessarily all the features in the modules. Fancy trying Star Citizen? Click here!

Ok, found the feature, tested: seem not working. ANYWAY, even if it worked, it's still only a workaround.. a real feature would be far better.
Buzzles Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 That's a shame, Prepare is really quite handy normally, can you raise a new bug thread for your issue with that? All is not lost though, as there might be another way involving scripting. Link to an old post which contains a bit of info. I didn't test this, but I think it should work. Fancy trying Star Citizen? Is this kind of things somewhere in the "TODO" list ? This defeats the entire reason for the VOR and TACAN. You change VOR or TACAN as you need in order to navigate over long distances. Not only for landing. I had to learn how to navigate using VOR and TACANs when doing FSX/P3D aircrafts. And they are very helpful devices when you are devoid of GPS, even if you have an INS. So far, the Universe is winning." "The three most dangerous things in the world are a programmer with a soldering iron, a hardware type with a program patch and a user with an idea."

Okay... but, the fact is that in DCS, in ~95% of the time, this thing is used only for ILS landing, since we don't do many transatlantic or transpassific journey, and military aircraft usually lands where they takeoff, and at least, the landing "waypoint" is perfectly known :D ...
grunf Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 Fiddling with ILS/TACAN keeps you busy while INS aligns. :D
sedenion Posted July 8, 2016 Author Posted July 8, 2016 (edited) Fiddling with ILS/TACAN keeps you busy while INS aligns. :D I don't need INS aligns, in fact, in DCS, i start the mission just after my cofee, and during my "pause café-clope", my mechanician already setup the INS for me... i have a very good and helpful mechanician :) Edited July 8, 2016 by sedenion
