Joystick Jerkyness

Recommended Posts

I think after the latest update, my joystick control has gone to hell. I am desperate to get this rectified. It is happening in both 2.0.2 and 1.5.4 equally. I am using a thrustmaster hotas X. In the device control panel, it is smooth as butter and perfectly calibrated, and works perfectly in warthunder and IL2. In DCS 1.5 and 2.0 the input appears to be "low framerate" as in 2 or 3 fps and not fluid like the other games. In the following video you can see just how bad this chop cane get, and when timed right, the game will think the joystick is still pinged to one extreme or the other while it's actually centered. I have deleted all configs, uninstalled the game, uninstalled all device drivers, reinstalled the game, tried with windows drivers + thrustmaster drivers. Not sure what else I can do.

Does anyone have advice? This sucks!

I have exactly the same problem. I use a FLY5 and I was able to replicate the problem also with a logitech stick.

I've been posting in the forum for more than 1 month and still it seems there is no solution.

It seems also that this problem does not appear for many people, so no big interest is raised in ED.

Fact is, for me all current versions of DCS are unplayable, as for you I guess

Did you check the PC/PS switch on the back of the stick? Else you could try a calibration software from thrustmaster page. I have the same stick and no issues 3 years now.

I tried to use the virtual joystick as an intermediary filter, and while it shows perfect smooth operation, in both versions it is still a stuttering mess. I seriously don't know what to do. It is NOT a calibration issue. The stick is fine and works beautifully in any other application.

Wish I could help mo.re. Search on thrustmaster forums and tech support for similar issues. I don't use virtual drivers thus they did created probs for me. You don't really need them tho in dcs try to clean them from your system

Once again: this problem is not given by the joysticks and their drivers, but by DCS, and specifically only since 1.5.4 and 2.0.2 are out.

This is definitely from the new update. I had a backup image of the version before the current today 7/15/16 installed and it did NOT exhibit this behavior. Only after updating to the latest version does it break. DCS PLEASE FIX YOUR JOYSTICK INPUT CODE!!!

If you have multiple controllers, check your control axis assignments to ensure that only one device is assigned to pitch/roll. Remove any other pitch/roll assignements. DCS likes to auto-assign pitch and roll to all of my other controllers, leaving me with several pitch and roll assignments that conflict.

That was one of my first checks. After several months with this issue, trying out all kind of settings, I'm sure it's not a small problem like axes assignment.

At 1st sry my English.

Lots of ppl have same problem, it comes month or more ago with "hot plug/unplug" future. Check topics with input bugs, more than 10 players write about in Eng/Rus side of forum 3 updates before but still no answer.

when all else fails, I use

USBDeview.exe

and delete all suspect, obsolete of futile USB entries

Windows keeps a 'database' of every and any USB think you ever connected and the port number

then try different ports, even connect a powered (!) USB hub, to 'confuse' windows into working a proper 'unused' port

who knows

| VR goggles | Autopilot panel | Headtracker | TM HOTAS | G920 HOTAS | MS FFB 2 | Throttle Quadrants | 8600K | GTX 1080 | 64GB RAM| Win 10 x64 | Voicerecognition | 50" UHD TV monitor | 40" 1080p TV monitor | 2x 24" 1080p side monitors | 24" 1080p touchscreen |

Very good tool, but it doesn't solve the problem
