Rhinozherous Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 Hey! I need your opinon, I am desperate. I tried several times to go multiplayer, with the mig21, the mirage... on op blueflag, open conflict server... But I dont come over the first lobby screen most times. It takes a long time until I could choose my slot. But everytime DCS crashes or I get a timeout :( My PC Hardware is seen in my signature, I know that it is not the newest, but is it really that low? In which way would you setup your graphic settings with this specs? Thank you i7-14700KF 5.6GHz Water Cooled /// ZOTAC RTX 4070 TI Super 16GB /// 32GB RAM DDR5 /// Win11 /// SSDs only DCS - XP12 - MSFS2020
Knock-Knock Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 Start from the bottom, choose the Low setting preset (I would restart the game after changing settings, just to be sure it changes), and try and join. If that works, then start upping the details. Im on a i5-4670 @4Ghz, with 8Gb system mem, GTX 970 4Gb, running of a SSD. And I sit and wait 'for ever' when loading in to Open Conflict. Even when selecting my slot, initially, the screen is frozen while it sorts all the data out, so there is a lot of data being loaded in for sure. - Jack of many DCS modules, master of none. - Personal wishlist: F-15A, F-4S Phantom II, JAS 39A Gripen, SAAB 35 Draken, F-104 Starfighter, Panavia Tornado IDS. | Windows 11 | i5-12400 | 64Gb DDR4 | RTX 3080 | 2x M.2 | 27" 1440p | Rift CV1 | Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS | MFG Crosswind pedals |
Endmonster Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 Hello, I guess your hardware, especially the grafics card is restricting your game play. On the open conflict server I sometimes had 9 GB RAM/4 GB VRAM and was kicked out. Try with low settings like low textures, no civil trafic, no water, no blur, low shadow, lowest MSAA, HDR off, other effects off. Win10Pro, i7-4770K, 32GB, RTX-2070S OC, VPC WarBRD Base, VPC Mongoos T-50CM2, Warthog Throttles, MFG Crosswind, TrackIR 5
winchesterdelta1 Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 I have even worse graphics card. I had the same issue. Put the sliders for view distance of all kind of things lower. Objects, three's and such. And the one for pre-render. Also SSD will help for loading with these kind of specs. Go in close, and when you think you are too close, go in closer.
Rhinozherous Posted July 17, 2016 Author Posted July 17, 2016 Thank you guys, will trie it with low settings! I will report if it works. Unfortunately I cant upgrade HW at this time... i7-14700KF 5.6GHz Water Cooled /// ZOTAC RTX 4070 TI Super 16GB /// 32GB RAM DDR5 /// Win11 /// SSDs only DCS - XP12 - MSFS2020
Rhinozherous Posted July 17, 2016 Author Posted July 17, 2016 No success so far... I think there is no other way than upgrading :dunno: i7-14700KF 5.6GHz Water Cooled /// ZOTAC RTX 4070 TI Super 16GB /// 32GB RAM DDR5 /// Win11 /// SSDs only DCS - XP12 - MSFS2020
Jugdriver Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 I have seen my RAM usage go over 9 GB, if you dont have a ton of RAM having and SSD will help, but I would concentrate on RAM (first) and a card that has lots of VRAM (second) if you are going to upgrade. JD AKA_MattE
Knock-Knock Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 Wow, indeed. Never monitored RAM usage in DCS, just knew 8Gb is quite sufficient for any other game really. But just loaded a simple practice mission with a few air targets, and I had 6.75Gb peak use. Damn, hungry :). Think I need 8 more, to have some buffer. - Jack of many DCS modules, master of none. - Personal wishlist: F-15A, F-4S Phantom II, JAS 39A Gripen, SAAB 35 Draken, F-104 Starfighter, Panavia Tornado IDS. | Windows 11 | i5-12400 | 64Gb DDR4 | RTX 3080 | 2x M.2 | 27" 1440p | Rift CV1 | Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS | MFG Crosswind pedals |

JD AKA_MattE Sounds goog, looked at my motherboard, it has two slots and I have 8GB in first slot... but I think my Motherboard does not support 16GB  It is a GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-S2P i7-14700KF 5.6GHz Water Cooled /// ZOTAC RTX 4070 TI Super 16GB /// 32GB RAM DDR5 /// Win11 /// SSDs only DCS - XP12 - MSFS2020

Rhinozherous Posted July 17, 2016 Author Posted July 17, 2016 According to Gigabyte it will support 16GB. http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3833#sp Hmm thats weird, I have checked with an programm named "Sandra". It shows just one bank, alltough I have two on my MB. And the paper handbook says up to 8GB... could it be that they have made a change via software update or so? i7-14700KF 5.6GHz Water Cooled /// ZOTAC RTX 4070 TI Super 16GB /// 32GB RAM DDR5 /// Win11 /// SSDs only DCS - XP12 - MSFS2020
Rhinozherous Posted July 17, 2016 Author Posted July 17, 2016 Maybe I got things a bit wrong, it could be that 8GB is the max for ONE ram unit... but I cant find out if it has dual channel architecture. Maybe I just trie it, because RAM is affordable at this time (not so expensive as a new pc ^^... my next rig will base on intel :smartass:) i7-14700KF 5.6GHz Water Cooled /// ZOTAC RTX 4070 TI Super 16GB /// 32GB RAM DDR5 /// Win11 /// SSDs only DCS - XP12 - MSFS2020
Rhinozherous Posted July 18, 2016 Author Posted July 18, 2016 Okay guys, I just tried it... and it seems to work  I have now a 2nd RAM unit with 8GB and it works like a charme, I was online. :) i7-14700KF 5.6GHz Water Cooled /// ZOTAC RTX 4070 TI Super 16GB /// 32GB RAM DDR5 /// Win11 /// SSDs only DCS - XP12 - MSFS2020
Knock-Knock Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 Good to hear Rhinozherous :) I just did a quick run on Open Conflict, while monitoring memory use. Had 22/25 clients when I joined. When the 'Choose Slot' screen appeared it was at 5Gb, and then it went fast up to 7.91Gb, at which point I was able to choose a slot, Mirage in this case. That of course made it swap like mad, and from then on I was hovering at 7.85Gb, and every stutter I had, was when it started swapping. Quite the eye opener, the memory consumption of DCS. Thx for the heads up. - Jack of many DCS modules, master of none. - Personal wishlist: F-15A, F-4S Phantom II, JAS 39A Gripen, SAAB 35 Draken, F-104 Starfighter, Panavia Tornado IDS. | Windows 11 | i5-12400 | 64Gb DDR4 | RTX 3080 | 2x M.2 | 27" 1440p | Rift CV1 | Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS | MFG Crosswind pedals |
Rhinozherous Posted July 19, 2016 Author Posted July 19, 2016 Will monitor what the consumption looks on my config, just curious. Also didnt realize before that it is that hungry. i7-14700KF 5.6GHz Water Cooled /// ZOTAC RTX 4070 TI Super 16GB /// 32GB RAM DDR5 /// Win11 /// SSDs only DCS - XP12 - MSFS2020
