I have been looking into purchasing a flight sim rig/chair, but all the options - Obutto, Volair (and some limited domestic alternatives) are either hideously overpriced and under-featured, or shipping is too large to justify.

I take it there are people who have built their own, what are my options? Pay $1500 aud for a Volair, or embark on a DIY adventure?

I made this 'cockpit' from 5/8" plywood. It has a 7-port USB hub underneath, for three connections - power, USB and an anti-static clip.

The whole thing can be lifted off the desktop.
