Dino Might Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 With the F14 likely delivered within a year, I'm looking for people interested in filming some flight scenes to recreate some of the favorite top gun moments (but better in some cases). I know, I know, it's an unrealistic and cheesy movie, but I think it would be a heck of a fun time to recreate the first and last aerial scenes of the movie, and then just dub the movie audio in over the DCS video. So...who is in for some goofing around? :pilotfly:
zcrazyx Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 I don't mind flying either aircraft :) i can't film for fath though
FZG_Immel Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Count me in. ps: im very good at formation flying. did that professionally for a time. Cool Breeze Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 Video crew for you know what I'm down! How do you propose to film! Dino Might Posted July 28, 2016 Author Posted July 28, 2016 I figure we'll set up a few multiplayer missions to set up each scene, so that we don't have to fuel and fly out and waste too much time. I've got shadowplay for in-cockpit stuff and can then use track replays to record from different angles. For the scenes that just show F5s, we could start that now (although I'm a bit busy with a new baby, but once I get some flight time...). I'll start thinking up the mission setups so that we can go right into filming short clips. I figure if we do about 10-20 min flights at a time, that will keep it easy enough to look through the tracks and pull out the footage we want. I think we'll probably start with just straight copying some scenes from the movie, but would rather do some development of our own scenes to fix some of the re-used footage that didn't quite match what was supposed to be going on.
FZG_Immel Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 let us know [sIGPIC]https://forums.eagle.ru/signaturepics/sigpic70550_3.gif[/sIGPIC] Asus Z390-H - SSD M.2 EVO 970 - Intel I9 @5.0ghz - 32gb DDR4 4000 - EVGA 3090 - Cougar FSSB + Virpil WRBRD + Hornet Stick - Thrustmaster TPR Pedal + WinWing MIP + Orion + TO and CO pannels - Track IR5
zcrazyx Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 I can fly the F5 relatively well and in formation however the harder manoeuvres are edgy as i have a T flight X however I have 2 curves set up, one for formation and one for dogfighting/ aerobatics :)
mattebubben Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 You could try to make get in connection with Cobra etc (leatherneck) since im sure it would make for a brilliant Teaser for the F-14 ^^.
Dino Might Posted July 28, 2016 Author Posted July 28, 2016 Thanks for the replies, everyone. I'll be in touch in the next few days. Trying to figure out my schedule for available time to fly (right now, sitting with a new sleeping baby - gives me time to think up scene layouts, though). I'm sure there are legal issues with Leatherneck using any vids we make with the Top Gun audio (I planned on using the audio straight from the movie), but at the very least, I think they'd get a kick out of it. They might even build some F14 scenes for us while they are doing testing
Cool Breeze Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 Sounds good Dino! I'm usually free after five during the week and my weekends are pretty flexible.
