GTX970 false advertising lawsuit

No word on how to collect the $ yet.

I was always aware that the 970 had 3.5 G VRAM but ....$40 CND is nice.

Really? I'v never had that problem. There is a new firmware update for the 970 btw that's suppose to fix issues like that, so maybe look in to that. Just be careful Firmware updates are not covered if something goes wrong so be sure you know what your doing and that It will fix the problem.

Now I know why I have a frozen boot every day.

Never ever had one with my 970 and as a matter of fact with any card. Assuming you have everyday a boot freeze because nVidia lied about 3.5GB vs 4GB of RAM is... a leap of faith.

I ran an EVGA GtX 970 FTW for about a year and a half, replaced it couple of weeks ago with my new 1080.

I was well aware of the vram issue with the 970, it still had 4gb it was just how it was being addressed. 3.5gb continuous, the remaining .5gb on a different sector which supposedly would slow the ram processing down a little if used.

I always monitor GPU related items whilst gaming, and with DCS2 even with my vram usage going over 3.5 gb, up to like 3.9 gb, I did not see any noticeable difference in FPS performance.

I recently sold my 970 while upgrading to a 1080 so I'm not too worried about this. If I can still get the $30 though I'll happily take it. Honestly knew about all of the issues people claimed with the 3.5+.5GB of vram, the false ROP and cache specs, and it still performed exactly how I expected it to anyways. It was a great card for everything I wanted to play. If the 1060's weren't released already I would still be recommending it as a great value'd card for 1080p.

I think the "frozen boot" was posted in regards to the article:

Unfortunately though this deal is only available in the US.

Ahh that makes sense . And that sucks about it only being in the US but I guess I can understand that since the case was settled in the US.

Same story as with VW :(

European customers are far behind US customers in claiming rights etc... we just left alone outside... and the company itself aint even responsible, you would have to find that ONE guy who did it wrong and sue him...that sounds like a JOKE but it's real :(

WOW! that's crazy and would really suck for the one guy who gets the blame. I try to imagine that here in north America and it dose sound crazy. Unless its a special case usually its the company as a whole that's at fault unless proved otherwise. Law is far from my specialty and I really need to read up more as a citizen everyone has individual rights and it mostly the person responsibility to learn them. I don't ever remember learning ANY Canadian law in High school...I think we read the Canadian charter of rights and freedoms once but that was it.
