MBot Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 Currently the CBU-52 dispenses its submunition after 4 seconds of flight. It should be fuzed by altitude above ground. The weapons delivery manual includes profiles for heights of burst between 900 ft and 3000 ft. I think it would be ideal if the actual HOB could be selected prior to the flight (like rocket salvo and CM program). 1
Eddie Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 FYI, while you're right that air burst fusing is available, it is optional and just like the CBU-87/97 etc timed fusing is also present on CBUs so what we have now isn't wrong either. But having options for both types would be excellent.
WinterH Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 It does seem to take markedly longer than all other cluster bombs in DCS though, makes low altitude level releases quite difficult. Will have to adapt to a different way of using them than I'm used to with other DCS aircraft :).
