I did a TACAN A/A test with a friend (he was in M2000) and it works fine, even too much fine.

I should receive only distance to him but I receive bearing too. (M2000 TACAN has correct behaviour because he receives only my distance)

...or F-5 TACAN is correct because M-2000 only receives distance.. :)

F-5 to F-5 will only give distance so I think it's the Mirage that's isn't correct.

In TACAN A/A you should get bearing and distance.

In TACAN A/A REC you should obtain only bearing.

 

Not all airframes are able to give a bearing.

No not usually. In Fighter to Fighter A/A Tac use you get Distance only even with T/R. Some Airborne aircraft (Tankers) can if fitted also provide bearing.

 

In General A/A TACAN only provides Distance
