My Tab Button Doesnt Work in Game

Hi fellas,

As the title says my tab button doesnt work in game. It works on everything else , just not while playing dcs. It started yesterday. I was flying in multiplayer server with a couple of friends and my tab was working without any problem. Then we got back to dota2 played some games. After that i wanted to play some su33 campaign in dcs. I started the game got in to the campaign but my tab wasnt working. I opened the "adjust controls" menu to check it. Wanted to try it on button assigning section. And It doesnt work there too. If i press LAlt+Tab game recognizes it. Tab works when i use it with Left Alt but other than that it never works.

I didnt installed anything between those dcs sessions. I didnt do anything different. As usual i played some dcs first then some dota.

Anyway can anyone help me on this ? I got a couple of the sensor buttons bind on that tab and my fingers are used to it. I really dont want to re-bind them to something else.

I searched about this a bit last night but couldnt even find one thread that has the same problem with me. Just tried holding down on tab, it doesnt work for me. tab only works if i use it with lalt, ralt, rctrl,rshift. Weird thing is both of rshift+tab and lshift+tab opens steam overlay but game recognizes tab only with rshift+tab.

what are you using tab for / which action?

i use it in sensors for radar on/off, radar frequency and radar mode switch on su33. But its not like the radar doesnt work, if i bind it to another key it works properly. My tab button doesnt work in game.

So my problem is pressing tab, Lshift+tab and Lctrl+tab doesnt work. if i use any other modifier than these game acknowledges my tab input and recognizes it.

Look man i know its used for multi player, its not like i just changed radar keys and they dont work. What im saying is im playing su33 for sometime now and i mapped most of the keys to my liking at the beginning. I didnt change them yesterday. i changed them a couple of weeks back when i started playing su33. But my tab button just stopped working properly yesterday. I was using it for radar etc. last week and it was working properly. It was working yesterday afternoon too. It stopped working last night.

And its not about my keyboard cos my tab button works perfectly on everything else other than dcs.

The thing about my problem that you dont understand is, im not saying that my radar is not working in su33. Try to imagine this, u open dcs world, you go in the options then controls, and you pick a random jet lets say its f15c and u want to change its "vertical scan mode" button to "tab", u click on modes, u click on that keyboard section of the vertical scan mode, u clear the earlier assigned button ("3" if im not mistaken) , you double click on the little empty cell that you just cleared, the button assigning window is opened now, it wants you to press a key and if u want press a modifier. Right at this point if i press my tab button (which is right below tilde and right above capslock) nothing happens game doesnt acknowlegde it, game doesnt see that im pressing a button, Button assigning window stays empty, game behaves like i didnt even press "tab". Do you understand it now?

TAB can no longer be re mapped to anything. Try to re assign it to any function and .... you can't. The press of the TAB key is now not recognized in the controls setting screens.

Correct as far as I can tell it can no longer be mapped to anything else, I will ask a dev on monday if this is intended or not

Thanks BIG NEWY. I appreciate you checking on this for us. If it was a mistake, I'd sure like to reclaim the use of the TAB key as assignable. It's a shame not to be able to program it now.

I found a solution, simply delete TAB key from UI menu and quit. Next time you open DCS World TAB key will work, only you have to do is remap chat function to another key.

EDIT: Works! If I remove every instance of TAB from the UI menu, close DCS world and restart, I can now program the TAB key to what I want. Thanks for the temp fix Gryzor.
