Well, I can't see the video on my ancient computer at work, but collision with the ground is entirely possible for the tail rotor if he is landing on rough terrain.

A Pakistani Army chopper (Puma) had a tailrotor shaft failure, hence the spinning

 

Luckly the commandos near the door retracted their legs before impact.

When I saw that video i was told they all survived even though if you look carefully you can see a troop jump/fall out of the chopper near the gear at one point.

No, the helo tried to land on flat grass-covered terrain, looks like inside a garrison or on a base.

 

OK...I just saw the video. I don't think he was nose-up enough for the tail rotor to contact the ground, so it looks like a mechanical failure.
