suntrace1 Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 First time I saw this one - don't know anything about it but I sure someone here knows more what happened here: http://www.metacafe.com/watch/55477/helicopter_spin/
Specter1075 Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 The lads in the doorways didnt look strapped in; they would have had a real rough time with that.
Force_Feedback Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 A Pakistani Army chopper (Puma) had a tailrotor shaft failure, hence the spinning Luckly the commandos near the door retracted their legs before impact. Creedence Clearwater Revival:worthy:
GGTharos Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Nevermind ;D 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
britgliderpilot Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Ahhh, isn't the intarweb wonderful! So far there's the theory that it's a Pakistani Puma with a tailrotor shaft failure, or a French Puma that put the tail rotor in on landing. And allegedly the chap who fell out got bruised ribs. Mmmn. Nice touch there, I feel. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
golfsierra2 Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 I noticed a high nose-up aspect when the main gear touched the ground. I think, ouside the camera view the tail rotor hit the ground, resulting in loss of control of the helo. 1 kind regards, Raven.... Guest IguanaKing Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Well, I can't see the video on my ancient computer at work, but collision with the ground is entirely possible for the tail rotor if he is landing on rough terrain.

No, the helo tried to land on flat grass-covered terrain, looks like inside a garrison or on a base. kind regards, Raven.... [sigpic]http://www.crc-mindreader.de/CRT/images/Birds2011.gif[/sigpic]
EscCtrl Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 When I saw that video i was told they all survived even though if you look carefully you can see a troop jump/fall out of the chopper near the gear at one point.
Force_Feedback Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 :megalol: Positive rate of climb. Legs up! :D  :D They have some built-in FCS those commandos :P :chair: Creedence Clearwater Revival:worthy:
Guest IguanaKing Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 No, the helo tried to land on flat grass-covered terrain, looks like inside a garrison or on a base. OK...I just saw the video. I don't think he was nose-up enough for the tail rotor to contact the ground, so it looks like a mechanical failure.
