firesoldier845 Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 This picture is a few years old but I was looking at some pics on my computer and found this one and thought you guys might like it. I was working fire rescue at the airport during the Stuart Air Show and a Sabre was doing mock attacks on the airfield with pyrotechnics. Either he got too close to the explosion or the guy set off the pyrotechnics at the wrong time or it was some type of malfunction. Anyway, some chunks flew off the plane and he lost some hydraulics and made an incredible landing at Pratt and Whitney airfield which is probably 10 miles or so south of where the airshow was. I don't have the other pics in my posession, but our fire department rescue helicopter flew into Pratt and Whitney when the guy landed and took a lot of pictures of the damage. I can get them off the computer at work so I'll post those later. There was also an F-16 at the airshow and he escorted the Sabre into Pratt and Whitney. It's quite and old picture though and old news. I was standing right next to my buddy when he snapped this picture. Anyway, it's only 1 shot. I'll post the others when I get access to them later if you guys are interested. cheers firesoldier845
Guest IguanaKing Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Wow...awesome pic. I think you're right, the pyros went off a bit too early. It looks like it ignited the left wing fuel vent. That's something we don't get in LOMAC, boys and girls...self frag.
Ironhand Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 ...That's something we don't get in LOMAC, boys and girls...self frag. Sure we do. :) I've done it a time or two releasing weapons at too low an altitude. Suddenly warning lights are going off, Nadia's bitching, and I'm looking for someplace to set 'er down. Guest IguanaKing Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 In which aircraft? Is that the Su-25T that it happens in?
Nomad Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 In which aircraft? Is that the Su-25T that it happens in?Its doable in any aircraft, you can even kill yourself with the gun. [brag]European dogfight champion 2006[/brag]
Guest IguanaKing Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 I have yet to kill myself with CBUs from my A-10, even at 100 AGL.
Disso Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 WOW very dramatic! Thank's for posting! SU-30MKI F/A-18F ...Beauty, grace, lethality.
BIOLOG Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 He-heh. Here is some memories from weapon system beta testing mission I was doing: Get yourself a MiG-29 and put a couple of FAB-500 on it, then fly at 10-25 meters (25 is better, at least you'll be able to fly for a couple of seconds, or fall rather) and drop the bombs, while doing about 700. Now I don't remember exact ranges mut it might still work at about 50 meters, and you may be able to fly faster, but not sure. {REGARDS} BIOLOG The bird of Hermes is my name eating my wings to make me tame.
Ironhand Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 I have yet to kill myself with CBUs from my A-10, even at 100 AGL. I don't think I've ever done it with CBUs either. It's always been with the bigger bombs: Mk-84s and FAB-500s. If I wait a bit too long to release, I end up with a rather raucous cockpit. Black_Hawk Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 I have bombed myself with dumb bombs in the air with heavy winds :music_whistling: I am even better. I did LA override while flying about 2000m at sea level and released submunitions from their dispencers from my Su-33 and started diving. Somehow they fell on me, and WHAAAAAAAAM!!!!!!!!!!!! :smartass: 159th GAR LockOnFiles CAW Team
