JaxonFlaxonWaxon Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 I'm a bit new to going above 1080p... yet I wanna definitely go to at least 1440p... What do you guys think? :helpsmilie: EVGA GTX 970 i5 4690K @4.2ghz 8gb RAM DDR3 (Soon to be 16) I'm sorry if this question has already been answered by somebody else with similar specs, but I'm growing "tired" of 1080p.... Thanks guys! :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] I like to fly and eat donuts mannn.. :pilotfly:
Art-J Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 I guess It depends on what kind of detail level and fps output is acceptable/desirable for You, because this 970 most likely won't have enough umph to provide stable 60 at medium-high settings at 4k. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
Konovalov Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Your 970 will not deliver anything near 60 fps at 4k. 1440p would work well with a 970. I would look at widescreen 1440p such as the Acer Predator with G Sync. BeastyBaiter Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 I'm looking at moving to 1440p too. Currently I have an I5-4690, 16GB DDR3 (pc2400) and a GTX770 2GB. Will upgrading the GPU to a 1060 or 480 offer 70+ fps average at max detail with little or no AA when dodging light poles over Las Vegas? System specs: i5-10600k (4.9 GHz), RX 6950XT, 32GB DDR4 3200, NVMe SSD, Reverb G2, WinWing Super Libra/Taurus, CH Pro Pedals.

Thanks guys! :D You can turn on DSR to x4 in the Nvidia control panel. (Under 3D settings). This will give you a pretty accurate indication of how your graphics card will handle 4K. Then in DCS you can choose the 4K resolution. It might have changed recently, but I wasn't happy with any of the 4k monitors for gaming when I last checked around 6 months ago. The all had fairly low refresh rates etc. I dunno if I'd be able to play on a screen less than 90hz minimum. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cockpit Spectator Mode

But I'm sure you could turn off a few settings like shadows to low which makes very little visual difference, but big performance gains. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cockpit Spectator Mode
aceviper Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Hi all Just very recently made the jump to 4K dcs...wow...its the way to go for sure. I wasnt expecting great performance out of my gtx780 but I must say after only changing anti aliasing to off I was pleasantly surprised with the fps. 1080GTX FE on the way btw. Way more immersion in 4K for sure.
Drag0nWIng Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 2000 dollars upgrade to 4k gaming. well... a little expensive, sigh.
aceviper Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 More like 1500 dollars...future proofed for a couple of years.
