Hi Guys

I'm a bit confused about the trim options in the control setup

* Axis Command:

Trim pitch

Trim Roll

* Flight control:

Trim Down

Trim Left

Trim Right

Trim Up

Do the trims in these both categories have same functions ? If not which one do i use to fine tune the aircraft behaviour ? suggestions please ? ( i use the Flight Control trim options )

Trim pitch = trim down + trim up.

Trim roll = trim left + trim right.

The difference is the ones under "axis command" are for assigning to an analogue axis (such as on a joystick) and the ones under "flight control" are for assigning to buttons. Carry on using flight control option, you'll be fine.

I don't see Axis Command:

Trim pitch

Trim Roll

I see:

pitch

Roll

These are for your J-stick and control your aircraft during flight.

Flight control:

Trim Down

Trim Left

Trim Right

Trim Up

This is to fine adjust your elevator and ailerons to take pressure off the stick when you change attitude/speed, used more in the Mig-29 but not needed in the F-15. There is also a rudder trim.

Mapping trim to an axis is just asking for trouble.

Depends on the aircraft though, right? I'm not really a WWII guy, but many of the old tail-draggers have trim wheels which would presumably be better/more-accurate when assigned to an axis.

Haven't tried it, though, so I can't say for sure.

I think the issue with assigning trim to an axis is that the precision you want for trim may be better served with an on/off switch.
