GTX 1080 SC vs. SLI 980 SC performance

Recommended Posts

Hi!! I need some info/help from you guys if it´s possible. I just migrated from a system with 2 EVGA Nvidia GTX 980 SC in SLI to a single EVGA Nvidia GTX 1080 SC. The process was simple and everything worked as it should, except DCS World

I started DCS after the migration process and preserved the video parameters used before with the SLI. I was expecting a little loss of performance, but the difference was HUGE! The loss of FPS is between 12-17FPS going to 20FPS in some scenarios. Imense sttuters everywhere.

So, went to work and did a downgrade in the visual parameters and got a more-or-less 30fps stable.

My question is: is this correct? I´m missing something? The performance loss is that great? I was expecting some but not that! May i add, that i have lots and lots of simulators and games (Including FSX and P3D for example) and they performed very well as expected.

Any hints of what i may be doing wrong?

Thanks in advance!

That sounds a bit too extreme. What resolution do You use?

I would also delete old options.lua (with all leftovers from the old config hidden in it) and start setting up the game options from scratch.

I´m running at default monitor res. 1920x1080 in a single monitor. No DSR in here. I´ll try your suggestion about the lua file, thanks!

Something's definitely wrong then (maybe with the drivers / driver settings?), as You should absolutely have a better fps performance. I never had an SLI setup, though, so I don't know what's the best way of converting to single, from drivers cleanup and installation point of view.

Yep, i know something is wrong. That´s exactly what i´m searching for.

The driver is a fresh new instalation 372.70

Art-J, i´m unable to find the file options.lua. Can you show me the directions? Thanks!

Thanks guys! I think i discovered the issue. I have just unchecked the "Mirror" option and my FPS boosted up to 70+fps in VC and 120+FPS external view (vsync off). I think the issue is over now. I really don´t know why i left the mirror option on as i had previous problem with that in the past. Anyway, i think it´s ok now. I´ll do more tests to see.

Thanks for everybody that helped!
