I am having trouble hearing the Missile Seeker Tone using IR missiles.

There is a knob on the left side of the cockpit....number 28....it can be turned in the cockpit with the mouse. I see no reference to this knob in the control settings. Even when I turn the knob with the mouse...I see no significant increase in volume to the lock tone.

Question- is there a control setting for this that I somehow missed?

If not does turning the knob have any effect on the missile seek tone volume.

If so, should you turn the knob clockwise to increase the volume...and is there any lua file that can be edited...or is modded to increase the lock tone sound?

I get variable tone volume while manipulating the volume knob on R-60M. Is this release or OA?

P.S. I don't get any "background tone" in any case. I only hear tone when over a target.

Edit: Are you using the "hear like in helmet" option?

I am having trouble hearing the Missile Seeker Tone using IR missiles.

Same issue here, the tone is very hard to hear over the general cockpit noise and the knob had no effect turning it up from the default position, but conversley it will turn the volume down turning it CCW.

first off....over by the radar controls... theirs a black knob.

ASP sound or something....really quiets things down.

its a constant static in the back ground.

then, over above the throttle, theirs a missile tone volume control.

also, set your weapon selector to 3-4 (if your heaters are on the outer store) then flick the switch by it to IR mode.

if you dont have heaters selected AND!!! are in IR mode....it wont get a lock, and you wont hear a tone.

Yes yes, we know all that kainhall. It's solely a problem with this module, all others we are able to turn the lock tone volume way up, but for some reason mig-21 requires completely different sound settings in main audio menu to be vaguely audible.

Seems to me that all of the online squads who prefer the Mig-21, should be loudly requesting that this issue be addressed.....since IR missiles are highly regarded for survival,....and being sure you have a good lock tone is essential,...for most...I would think the Multi-player community would agree.

I have the same issue. I can hear the tone, but just barely. The tone control knob seems to adjust the volume, but even at maximum setting the sound is really hard to hear properly.

No problem getting a lock or launching the missile. Just difficulty to hear the sound.

Test the seeker tone against different targets. The F-5E is having a problem generating a tone but other aircraft aren't having this issue.

Same for me, I can heat the missile tone, but it is very low in volume, with afterburners on, I can barely hear it.

No longer active in DCS...

Any 5.1 audio settings? What are you sliders settings? Hear like in helmet selected?

How suitable the volume is notwithstanding I'm curious which people have no sound, steady sound, and sound which varies by turning the knob.

The sound that we have for now is the "seeking sound".

This sound is heard when the seeker head is enabled and ready, approx. 20 seconds after the switch that controls the seeker head is enabled.

When the seeker head is locked on a target, the sound increments in tone and volume and the light on the left side of the ASP is enabled if the missile g-limits for launch are correct. Like in the L-39.(Same equipment)

This sound, the sound that we have now, is heard too when the radar head of a R-3R is lock on a target. In this case, no changes in the tone or volume of the sound exists to indicate a "Launch autorized". The LA is indicated by the radar light in the left side of the scope and the left light of the ASP.

This bug is reported and in WiP stage, pending to implement in a public release, according to the Mantis bug tracker.

Don't see this as being actively worked on in the bug tracker.

The issue is listed as item:0000231 which shows it was closed some time ago.

So...is there a new issue posted in the bug tracker that addresses this now?

Added a note in the 133 closed item, asking for reopen and fixing this old bug (present since the first release)

It's linked to others that seems to be closed aswell and marked as fixed.
